Bad Compound

Dammit!!! After trying the 2500+ with the Whisperrock I thought that the temps where to high. About 55 in full load. So I changed to my Volcano 9 fan.
No it's even worse!!! It's on 50 and raising, and now it's in idle. Checking the degrees in BIOS. 50 IN IDLE!!!

Ƹ'm a silver paste from Cooler Master which I got from my brother. Could it be that which is running bad or have I got to much paste on the CPU?? I dried the paste of with a coffeefilter from the heatsink, as instructed on Actics homepage. And I applied a thin but rather uneven, I just couldn't get it right, layer on the CPU.

Try to use Artic Ceramic, Artic Silver3 or Artic Silver 5, these are the best pastes for the CPUs, but aply it in a thin even way. If you dont wanna take risks i would recomend you use the ceramic paste cuz its non conductive so you dont f**k any component.

That little huh?? Well I ordered myself a Swiftech MCX462-U heatsink. A was going to order a SLK-800 at first but I didn't like that it didn't have the mounting holes. I could ordered a SLK-900 instead only then I had to wait until next week Oh well, hopefully the Swiftech will do its job well done.

anyway, I'm going to clean up the processor die and lay on some arctic silver 5 grease. Any suggestions on the cleaning process??

You need more or less depending on how lapped your heatsink is, try getting as mirror finish as possible

Is there a hardware temp monitor for that board? Because my board goes full load when i sit in the bios...but temps are way lower with the HWM or MBM in windows...so you might try that instead, im also not the only one with my board that has seen this happen wile thier in the bios watching thier temps. My board is a Soltek Nforce2 SL-75FRN2-L....so i guess what im trying to say is some boards run half to full load when your in the bios. why? i dont know

70% or greater IPA will do the trick.

Well, my SLK-800 is on its way. though I have seen that the heatsink is really pain in the ass to install.
Plus, that the tape underneath leaves marks when you rip it off.

Rubbing Alcohol and a rag or q-tip will work. a little mothers aluminuim polish and a soft cloth will bring out a nice shine.

yep...gott the alcohol, but no rag. Thought if I perhaps could you cotton balls to clean it with. Well, I'm just gonna find something anyway.
