2500+ heat question
If I overclock the 2500+ to a 3200+, does it get as warm as the 3200+?? Can I then get a fan that is qualified for 3200+ processors??

I'm using a Thermaltake Volcano 7 with a 2500+ Barton o/c to 3200+ and under a 2+ hour gaming load it runs at 44 C, and at 29 C idling.

sounds like u could use more case fans/better case air flow...

I have it overclocked that high, same chip and all, but using a Vantec Aerocool. Good heatsink and it is not loud in the least. The Thermalright is a good sink, but, it all depends on how much noise you like. This ramble brought to you by: Insomnia. Bringing you quality jabbering since the beginning of time.

not really... slk is the best on the market slk 800 took over as king of air cooling (previouslty held by swift tech) and only dwafed by the 900/947 models....
as for noise you chose you own fan! i'm useing a slk 800u and 80 mm fan @ 30db and getting about 45 cfm... cpu set at about 28C about 32 max under full load... and i've yet to lap the bottom wich would yeld lewer temps.....
or be an insane over clocker an slap a 80mm delta 50 db 115cfm for screaming overclock ....
the slk 800 take up 2 a 80mm fan the 900 and 947 i belive will accept a 92mm fan meaning more air flow and much quiter....
and the sound producted is not the screaming of small 60 mm fans its more the tone of house fans.. not nearly as annoyinmg .. if air is being moves it's gotta make sum sora noice ...
unless you want super quite but then you gonna give up most of you o/c potential

I consider 44 C under load acceptable considering that it's 100% stable. It hasn't crashed in the last 3 months that I have been running it that way.

I hit 50C under full load with stock cooling and an 84.1CFM 80mm fan. Not too upset with that pending using the default 60mm fan on the stock cooler I was hitting 67C full load. (As a point of reference this is with the temperature sensor stuck to the bottom of the installed CPU).
I idle around 42-44C.....not quiet the temps I would like but with stock cooling one can not complain too much.

I have a 2500+ OCed to 3200+ I am using a Thermalright SLK-900u with a 80mm ThermalTake SmartFan 2 and my temps are as follows:
Idle: 30C
Full Load: 32C
Room Temp: 21.1C
Internal Case temp: 24C
NOTE: If you get a SLK-900 DO NOT use a 92mm fan!! Many test have proven and 80mm works much better becasue more air makes it across the HS then with the 92mm since most of the 92mm fan is hanging off the HS.

If you are looking for something cheaper than the thermalright slk 900 - I would recommend the coolermaster aero7+ - works wonders with my 2800 - I have it clocked at 214x11 (2354MHz) and have the fan around 2.5k rpm - which means that it is a hardly distinguishable noise.
the aero 7+ cost me £20 ($30)

Those temps seem fine to me but what is your current temps in your area? Just don't forget when the weather warms up so will your processor.

I use a Barton 2500+ in my old rig, overclocked to 200fsb x 11.0 multi giving 3200+. My temps hit the following:
Room temp: 26c
Idle Termp: 44c
Full load: 53c
I use a vantec HSV aeroflow fan and the CPU voltage is 1.74v
