Overclocking my server
Some of you may know my lil server which over the course of time has seen some overhauls, my latest experient has been to upgrade my Duron 1300/Kt266 combo into a decent little side rig for file sharing/ testing nvidia drivers, and downloading along with some rendering while being (VERY important) a quiet system.
So aiming for low cost and low noise, I was fortunate enough to be offered a special edition 1.5 volt 2200XP CPU via a company and purchased an ABIT Nf7 (not the S thats in my main gaming rig -- gotta love this mobo) for a mere £48, along with a stick of pretty good DDR2700 and a maxtor 120 gig drive (with sexy green case matching akasa HD cooler bolted on), I had the workings for a nice server.
Adding in my Quadro FX and a silent PSU/Chieftec green case with side fan and a raid card Kakarot gave me I started to play around.
Setting up my Zalman cooler, I put the 120 mm fan on top setting (2500rpm) and put the whole thing together with my server OS of choice windows 2003. Then spending the next 20 minutes setting it up for the Quadro and sound......
Everything has worked fine and ive managed to get the 1.8 gig Cpu running comfortably at 1.65 volt at 2250mhz/212FSB with the ram timings at 8-2-2-2.5 (pretty good for standard DDR2700). This rig isnt meant for benching but its always worth a shot to see how things will go !
3dmark2001 to this point ive managed to get 15,500 (only 1 ram chip not dual).
3dmark2003 5,500.
CPU Temperatures are always in the 40s, which is something that has surprised me, considering the Zalman heatsinks arent rated for overclocking.
All in all its a nice little server/side system and im still having fun setting it up, and more importantly, even though alot of the hardware has been given to me.... its been relatively inexpensive (apart from the $2000 quadro **cough**) and VERY quiet even for an overclocked system!

Whoa, a 1.5V 2200?!?! How might I find one of those? I have my 1.5V 2100, but a 2200 would be even cooler.
