2500+ t0 3200+
Ok i know this chip will do 3200 speeds and higher.....ive seen it done with an Asus board....the problem im having is that my Abit Nf7-s wont let it happen.
Im running XMS DDR3200
Well for some reason anywhere over 180 FSB i get
Windows could not start because the following is missing or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system\
But it runs great and stable at 179FSB.....hoping someone could shine some light on this.

Do you remember what the date code was on your processor?

Do you have the latest revision of BIOS and there was initially a problem with OC a Barton on the NF7-S where you had to cut a bridge on the core of the CPU to get the higher FSB, but You probably don't want to know about that, just try the latest BIOS and see if that helps, and try lowering the Multiplier to see if the CPU and Memory will handle the FSB you want

Hi
I dont know if this helps you bud, but I have a 2500+ running at 200x11.
CPU Volt: 1.7
AGP BUS: 66mhz
Idle temp: 36
Full load temp: 48
Try and and lower the multi down to 10 and then pump the FSB in 5mhz jumps until you are comfortable. I have managed to get my FSB up to 230mhz with a CPu multi of 10, the CPu volt had to be sitting on a very warm 1.8v
So i reckon you lower the cpu multi - increase the fsb, test with prime95, then increase the cpu multi - but dont go over 11 - i found found this causes huge problems.
I wouldnt alter the AGP voltage either.
O and that error your getting, I use to get that too, but when i decreased the FSB it went away! So to save doing that I just lowered the cpu multi and increased the cpu volt but only marginally.

abit nf7-s 2.0 here...1.9 bios, 2500+ at 3200+ using the bios options, the bios gives you the smart overclocking option to choose between the two, i use 1.75v.

NF7's should always give you 200fsb or more, they are made for that... the best overclocker motherboard available right now for Socket A.
Now shit does happen, you might have gotten one of those boards that dont function the way the rest of em do.
Like for example compare the A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 to the 1.4 version, the 1.4 wont give you FSB higher than 180, and the 2.0 is like an NF7-S 2.0 almost, giving you FSB way higher than 200.
So you might have gotten a board that cant OC good, you might wanna try to use your warranty and get another NF7-S board, or it might even be something else, like the CPU.
Anything is possible bro, try to error things out to narrow the problem down to a couple of things, then you will find out whats wrong for certain.
But I might be completely wrong, you should try to mess with the bios a little bit, try messing with the timings, raise your VDDR, I've also heard of people not being able to hit high FSB unless they raise their chipset voltage to 1.7V but not in my case.
I'm at 220fsb with chipset at 1.6V completely stable (multiplier at 11x = 2425MHz), rock solid.
Just try raising your VDDR and chipset voltage, see what happens... I really dont know what else to tell you, but the NF7-S is an amazing frickin motherboard.
I love it.

Your RAM May not be able to handle the High FSB and there is a chance that the CPU Just can't handle anything better then the 2.17 Ghz, try using Lax memory timings
P.S. There is a board as good at OCing if not better from what I have herd on other boards, the DFI Lanparty boards

I'm running it with no problem at all, even with Kingston DDR333 ValueRAM at DDR400. My CPU voltage is set to only 1.7.
Sounds like more of a memory problem to me. I would either relax the memory timings or up the voltage of the memory. Worse comes to worse, you could reset the bios and just fiddle with the processor settings. That way, if it does work, you can narrow it down to something that is solely in the bios.
Have you tried lowering the multiplier to 10x and upping the FSB? That's what I had to do when I used a stock cooler on my XP.

Just to let u know i have had mine up to 12 @ 222 on air at stock volts. I keep mine @ 11 / 222 stock volts 1.65 " stock volts seem to work the best on this chip" seems very stable @ that speed and the temps are pretty low. My specs are in my sig, and the Msi Delta board has not let me down. I have my Corsiar 3200 512 1 stick @ 1.7 volts and 4332. So maybe everybody is right, your memory might not be up to snuff. As that 2500 barton is a relabiled 3200 as everybody knows. So 3200 should happin with no problem.

Not on all of them.....I have owned 2 of them that did just fine. And yet I have a friend with a 2.0 board that wont break 190 no matter what. It is just the luck of the draw. But in this case with him getting the multi up so high.....it sure sounds like a memory problem.
You did insert your memory sticks starting with slot 3 right? This seems to make a difference sometimes....they even mention it in the manual and on the web site.

And sadly some of the rev2 a7n8x boards will not even do 166MHz.

I have a rev 1.4 and it does 214+ easy......... my corsair xms pc3500 @ 2-2-2-5 ram being the limiting factor at such a tight timing lucky i guess?
