Hottest Barton2500+ stock cooling?

currently, my bios info is telling me i'm running at aprox 45*C surface temp... and 50*C core... my system temp is 50*C as well....

I'm running stock cooling (retail).... so i'm wondering what the safe place to be would be... (i've overclocked the barton from 2500+ to 2800+.. (never set manually...just selected the cpu 2800+)

Anyways.. i've set the auto warning sound to the lowest.. i've set the AUTO SHUTDOWN temp to the lowest... (so warning will be 50*C and shutdown is when it hits 60*C)

My specs are listed in my sigy (click right side of it)

I'm just curious cause i really don't want to mess anything up..never ever SUCCESSFULLY overclocked a cpu before apart from a celron and a few golden oldies.... i could get my athlon 600mhz to go no higher then 612mhz without windows dieing......

Wow, thats hot. Are you using ceramique or AS3? A thermal pad will not cut it.

I'm using a good thermal paste... at stock speeds..i would be getting 32*C idle and 36-39*C full load....

oh wait, I thought you said it was already on stock speeds. Those temps seem pretty normal for a stock cooler.

so how high can i go.... alot of people are running thier 2500+'s at 3200+.... the only thing some of them need to do is up the voltage a bit

The rule of thumb is that you can go up to 60 degC before you start having problems with stability. Of course, ideally you'll want to keep that CPU under 50 degC, but that's not always possible depending on your overclock and cooling solution.

or if you don't want to have to dismaltle your whole case to install it get a slk 900A. I don't see why you wouldn't want one nowadays.

because my stock cooler does do well.... i've rather got poor results right now because my case if filled with grim..... as soon as i get it cleaned out .... (ran out of compressed air).... i'll be cranking up the clocks....BTW, when i'm running anything.... @2600+...2800+....3000+ mode.... the CPU surface temp JUST hits the 50*C mark.... my system temp is nearly 55*C.... and my core is nearly 55*C.. (not exactly)... how do i know this?... because my system right now is set to give me warnings at 50*C..... (this is after just about running through the entire 3Dmark03 benchmark (2 last tests needed to be completed)..... so considering..... i think i might be able to push 3200+ rather easily when i get my system cleaned up.... (BTW, i think my northbridge fan is failing... it speeds up and slows down constantly..... what can i do?)

i'm running @ 2.3ghz with 43 idle an 49 full load temps. check my sig for the deep info

I'm using a good ol volcano 7+ @ medium speed with Arctic Silver 3 on both the cpu an northbridge + Radeon I'm going to hopefully get a Vantec AeroFlow HS/Fan and hope that will drop my temps some more. Might also play with my voltages and make them more efficient(i chose 1.8 instead of playing with other voltages), so i might drop it down a bit an see if i can take some degrees of my temp that way. Stock cooler doesnt do much especially when your going to overclock.
