Well....I don't have an XP but I do have a Thunderbird series Athlon. It is a 1.133GHz "AXIA" chip running at 1420MHz now. It posts at 1466MHz but doesn't go into windows (I need more voltage). The highest speed I got this puppy was 1430MHz but once in a while it would reboot after about 30 min of Folding.

overclocking XP1800
I have my XP1800 at 1.64GHz, air cooled. I need to modify the heatsink though, i've just bought an 8000RPM Delta fan to go on the top of it :-) loudddddddddddd.
All those late nights and overnight runs of div/x is gonna kill my sleeping patterns... hmmm time to move the PC to the attic or something
1.64Ghz is about as fast as i can get it , FSB permitting, 141*11.5
Would like to unlock the multipliers on my beast

I have an XP 1700+ running at 1,666.7 (1.8V) @ 9.5 x 176 FSB cooled with a Volcano 7. I can go as high as ~1,715 Mhz (10x171) with 1.98V, but stability problems and heat start to build up. I'm waiting for the new XP core (.13) to launch, then I'll get the lowest one (I think is 1800+) and overclock it sky-high
For now, I'm happy with the 2000+ I got from the original 1700+
Cheers!

This is what I've found to be a stable everyday OC on my 8K3A, but I have no idea why cpuid calls it a mobile Athlon...

I have never overclocked a Althon XP yet. The only CPU I ever overclocked was a Duron & with ease.
If I overclock my XP using the FSB since it's locked, what's a good setting I should start out with in the Bios FSB setting? I think it's at 100fsb by default? Yeah I'm newbie in overclocking CPU's. My current CPU temp is at 40 degrees since my CPU utilization is at 100% thanks to folding Normally my CPU is at 32 degrees when I have Folding home off. Motherboard is a KT133A via chipset ofcouse.

For an hour I was on top of the world! 2210MHz from a 2100+ XP.
It took a solid copper heatsink, w/ an 80mm Delta fan, And a 120watt peltier. The processor ran at a temp of 5*C. I left to go get something to eat, and when I got back... It was dead. As was the motherboard.... But as I said ... for a hour baby! I was on top of the world!
Specs:
2100+ AMD Athlon XP processor
Multiplier: 13
System Bus: 170
Core VDC: 1.98vdc
Temp: 5*C
Total speed: 2210MHz

hmmm 1800+ -> 2000+
After some more piddling around today...
11.5 * 142 MHz according to BIOS
but bus speed is 142.67MHz or something (i need screen shots)
so i'm hitting 1640MHz ( i think i said that before, i think i multiplied it in my head wrong lol)

I try to overclock as high as possible without upping the voltage. THis way I can slap a quieter fan and keep insane fsb speeds..
Currently 10x160 from a 1700+. These babies love high fsb speeds! Image the ones running @ 166 by default!!
THink of a 266mhz x 2 bus. THe power!!!!

water frightens me
n00b question here:
i don't know much if not anything about water cooling rigs, i understand about the block, tubes, pump, etc...but how do you keep the water from heating up? if the whole system is completely sealed (is it? or is there a vent of sorts to release steam?) how do you keep it from evaporating? is there a reefer unit attached?

You can use a radiator with fans attached to it blowing air through an separated air tunnel, or you can use a really big bucket of water =)

good grief, i have a headache. either you spend a few hundred dollars for quality parts, or go to the junkyard and local plumbing store...but you still have to put the rig together. i'd wouldnt be able to sleep knowing that it could leak all over the place.
i'm just going to move me and my rig to northern manitoba.

I have my XP 2000+ running @ 1762MHz(12.5*141) stable on air. When it is colder, I usually can run stable @ 1787MHz(12.5*143) Next week, I am ordering an Innovatek Watercooling Kit, hopefully I will reach the 2GHz mark
