welcome to my next insane o/cing attempt... on an old system
he he he .... welcome to my next insane o/cing attempt... on an old system ... i've bult a home made/modfyed cooler ... cheap amd cooler rated for 1800+ with a handy dandy 80mm to 60mm fan and a nice quiet 30db 45cfm fan mounted on top...
the inane part is i have to overcock in the dark! i have to take a shot @ a good overcock speed and voltages ... useing the wire trick .... so it would be a royal pane to try many configs
http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?/ht...md_pinmod.html
the cpu i am useing is : 1 GHZ amd t-bird
board gerneric kt133 w/ pc 133 sdram
so i'll worry about the fsb ... defult is 200mhz (ddr)
what i need are reccomendations for
1. multiplyer
2. core voltage
board is only rated for up to 1.2 ghz
insane fact this board i used to use in the shop ...building pcs and would often blow 1.2 ghz cpus up!/fry them so i am takeing some intersting chances with this pos. to mabe gett a little faster system out of it....
i'll be replaceing the crappy cooler on the chipset too for possable fsb o/cing to be done a little later.... the board can be hacked to run the fsb @ 133mhz (support is built in but disabled by via and then incorparated in kt133a) but its rumored they top off @ 110mhz but i dont know if they were running good cooling or the factory heatsink that coulnt cool crap...
help me out here guys.... i dont wanna kill this thing ...

Hello cowboy,
What's the mobo model?
I wouldn't bother witht he wire trick... can it be done by the PENCIL trick?
Fuck the board support.... maybe it's not supported, but it could boot ok.
Use a program later like sandra (not cpuid/aida32!!!) to check the speed/multiplier after the oc, because sometimes windows and bios won't show the RIGHT speed.
Set vcore to the max (yeah), and go changing the multipliers... check the temps too, don't let it reach more than 50~55º on idle.
The chipset cooler you may forget about... take care of the system temp and cpu only.
What's that about a kt133 being disabled by via? Never heard about it... did you moded/hacked already to kt133a?
I got an athlon 800 running at 1.2ghz.. 1.85 vcore/12x100.
Performs very well with a nice cooling system (watercooler.... an air cooling for this oc could be day dreaming at these speeds)

I bought 2 conductive silver pens and they were really expensive, but worth it. It was 10$. Your only other option is to try to carefully tape a thin wire over the gap. Someone else might know of something better.

hello again,
Do you know if your L1s are opened or cut? Check this out.
On kt133 unfortunally you will only reach the max of 110fsb.
If you need only to change the L1s bridge, an ordinary pencil will do the trick.
The regular 1.75voltage should supply your demmand for 1.1ghz or maybe 1.2 with a higher vcore.
But man, what's the difference about 1ghz to 1.2ghz? Of course, 200mhz, but I don't know if you will see the real difference on it. It's a nice thing to prove yourself you can do the overclock... nothing much else though.

I don't know if its only a local shop, but I go to Signal Electronics for all of my small electronic needs. I keep slowly writing out a list of all the various parts I need and why, then I vist about once a month and they can supply me with everything, sometimes with something that will be better suited for the job.

the thunder bird processors do not have gaps burned into an organic substrate... they are built on a ceramic substrate... and just using a pencil to connect all of the L1 bridges will do you just fine. You dont need any fancy pens to unlock a ThunderBird... just a mechanical pencil... and a steady hand. scrbble a little line over each pair of L1 bridges to connect. put a piece of tape over the top of the pencil marks... and call it done.
This is the original unlocked Athlon:
Here is the now unlocked Athlon:
Notice the little pencil marks?
This is quite literally all you have to do to unlock a ThunderBird.

You can use this method to also change the multiplier... but you will also have to cut bridges... which is not so easy.

ummmm... I would rather not get into that... I would like to say yes... but I am not sure just exactly how tough that ceramic substrate is... If you destroyed your CPU I would feel really bad about that.

I agree with wolf... cutting is much more difficult than linking the bridges with a pencil... you should try that.. very carefully of course (pencil trick). Do that and change your multipliers/vcore by bios if u can, or jumpers on your mobo

Check this. Palaminos you have to use non conductive filler. T-Birds you only need a pencil. Just setting that straight as no one has brought this up.

i noticed something loking @ via's code .... via a specail editor eveything over 110 is label "reserved" mabe vias pulling somee thing here what if they capped them? they also disable interweaveing wich is what i go in and trun back on.... but the 110 fsb things got me wondering...
