9500pro hacked and OC question

With the Omega drivers latest version, am I correct in assuming that I do not need the bios flash to OC the card?

Also, the hacked drivers with Omega's, do they work on 9500 pro as well and if so, what do they do exactly? I already have the 8-pipes so what exactly is going on there?

I ask because I have never seen anything explain that too well and I want to know before using them. The last thing I want is checkboard effects. Thanks in advance.

No man, the 9500pro can't be turned or patched to anything... I'm sorry.

You will only need to flash your BIOS, if you cannot overclock your card (you could use radlink, radclocker (it comes with omega package).

If you can overclock it, don't worry and don't be an indiana jones to flash it.. you could screw things up man.

cheers

I used them. I was in your situation. It will oc the 9500 pro. I have a sapphire 9500 pro with 3.3 inf ram. It wouldn't oc with anything. I was about to flash (which I would have messed up) and I put in the omega drivers. Now i"m running 360/297.

I think omega drivers just differ from cats in the way that they ignore the card which is saying "I'm stupid and locked you can't oc me". Where the cats would abide with the bios lock, the omegas don't.

Well I flashed it sometime ago but I heard here and there that it isn't needed with certain driver packages like Omega's so I had to ask and see. Did you use the Hacked option on Omega's drivers or did you just use the regular drivers?

The HACK option is ONLY for the 9500 NON pro ... it will only cause problems on a pro... as the card does not have the neccessary components to be hacked. OCing on the other hand is VERY likely... just dont push it too far... and remember OCing WILL void your warranty.

Omega's most recent driver clearly states during setup that the hack works for BOTH Pro and NonPro Radeons. I used it on my Sapphire 9500Pro and the chiptype showed up as 9800 in the display properties.

BTW - I have gone back to Catalyst 3.6 since Omega's f**cked up GTA and Vice City.

LOL... that is just the driver installation performance optimizations that the 9800 gets by default... you are still going to have 128bit memory interface... not 256bit... the 9500 Pro is HARDWIRED through the PCB for 128bit...
