Overclocking the 9800 PRO...
Im gonna be OC'ing, my 9800 PRO and i was wondering if... 1. Anyone knows of a program to keep an eye on Memory Temps and Core temps, for the vid card that is... and 2. im putting on Tweakmonsters BGA Ramsinks ( http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/tweaktinbgar.html ) i have a tube of Artic Silver 3 already and im going to be using that to apply the Sinks, and i was wondering if the SINKS would fall off, i kno how 2 properly apply AS3, but this stuff isnt glue, so im not sure how their gonna exacly stay on thier unless the goop hardens or something?, does anyone have the anwser to that? Please Fill me in...

There is no way to read temps on any R9800. Also do not use the AS3 on the ramsinks unless you also want to use superglue. AS3 is a thermal paste, I recommend using an adhesive like Arctic Silver Alumina.

according to reviews i've read on AS3 after hours of running the card the goop thickens and depending on the weight of the sink it will stay just fine... these Ramsinks are no were near heavy so i figured this would work, what do u think?

I highly recommend you don't put it near your card. It's conductive and it will NOT hold the ramsinks at all. It's not worth it man, save it for your cpu.

user thermal tape, i wouldn't go for adhesive...it'll stay on forever...thermal tape is much safer and can be removed and doesn't void the warranty of the card.

I heard someone once say that if you mix Artic Alumina and Artic Alumina Adhesive 50-50, then the sinks will stay on just as needed, yet they are still easy to remove later. You may want to try that.

Cause boy i'll tell ya i see the differences in 3D Mark...

I use the same setup as Sharkims. I'm not bothered about the sinks needing to come off. Thermal tape aint anywhere near as good as the Alumina for conducting heat so it kind of defeats the purpose of putting the sinks on in the first place.
The main reason for me putting them on was cos they looked groovy inside my case but I was able to get some pretty good overclocks with them on.
Go for it man, you will be pleased with the results. You can check out my 3DMark scores with the sinks attached at the links in my sig.
Here's a pic of my 98 with the sinks installed.

You could just put your thermal paste in the middle of the ram and then dab a little bit of superglue around the edges...

the only thing i use Crazy Glue for is for putting fans in places were i want them so they dont move or fall when i move my case, its accualy very affective, once i get my ramsinks i'll take some pics, i accauly have 2 fans glued and one includes the one i have ove the North Bridge. I dabbed a bit of Glue on the bottom of the fan, stuck it their turned the beast on and the air cooled it in secs...
