Cooling 9500pro with cpu fan

Hi there, i have recently bought a volcano 7+ for my barton replacing my old cpu cooler. I am wondering if it is a good idea to put this one over the backside of my radeon without pasting it or anything, just leaving it there.

Thanks!

edit: well i did it, got some 8 celcius less but i gave a little touch to the cooler while computer was still on, making windows to look full of artifacts.
Maybe the heatsink is touching an important chip or something.

that isnt a very good idea... the bottom of the HSF is metal, and all the components on the back of your card are open, and now being shorted out. Not too swooft there buddy... Hopefully you didnt do any lasting damage.

i thought the same idea ( putting a cpu hs on a vga cpu) but then like wolf said its not a good idea do to the size comparenson vs a vga cpu and a amd/intel cpu so basicly a big part of the heatsink will be hanging off of the chip and the weight its more then a regular vga heatsink .....

also why ur windows went to a error when u hit it is becouse of the weight of the cpu heatsink on the vga card is pulling it down and when u tapped it ... it probly caused the card it self move making a bad connection from the card to the motherboard .. how i know this well i have my reasions
