This fall AMD will release their new card. Following their release Pentium will make any changes (to own them) and release the P5.

no, prescot is slated to be released. & as far as over priced do a comparison of the top cpu from both lines. amd cost more & does less.

right now there is no mb's that will take prescott. so your choice is p4c or barton. if you go with a high quality 865 board & 2.4c it is going to cost you about $320. do not know what a equivantley equipped & same performance level barton board & cpu will cost. there are plenty of people around here that can help you amd wise.

For about that much the AMD equivelent is an Nforce 2 v2 board like the
Abit nf7-s or Asus A7n8x dx around 120$ and the Barton 2800 2.08g for around 170.
However if going the AMD route the Barton 2500 1.83g for 90$ will perform at XP 2600 2.08g levels easily @166X12.5, and will overclock to 2.2g with the retail cooling and default voltage settings@200X11. The extra money would come in handy for buying some quality ram.

Get a 2.4C
I highly recommend an Abit or ASUS 865PE board with a 2.4C or a 2.6C. Just look at benchmarks in reviews and such. Price/performance + Feature ratio in a C series processor is very good. Even the 2.4B with an 865PE board is a great deal. Heh~! I'm riding with a 2.4B @ 3.35
