It adds a few MM to the chips hight and many high tension HSs will now crack the core of the chip.

if you cut pins or solder on you cpu your warrany's dead for shure...
as for cracking the core i dont see an usses there a s long as your cafull as usall...

There is a better, easier way to unlock your CPU, simple fill in the filler bit on your L5 bridge, but o nly fill in the second from the right/third from the left. NOW ittwill change it to a ' MP AMD CPU' but it will till run at its original core/clock and you can ONLY change the multiplyer using Crystle CPUID or something like it. Or something like that. I did it, but because ihave an Nforce 2 mobo, they guy who makes the software hasn fixed th e bug that crashes the Desktop when you try and change the multilpyer. BUMEMR for me
but it works for ALL cpu's ( even new Locked batons a fter weeek 43 ) and most viA mobo's.
im in australia so im tired, sorry about the bad spelling, but im tired cause its 1 am. blah.

those multiplier switches you have wont change multiplier on locked CPU.
To ViewAskew: The method you mentioned works for t-breds, and older XP's (palomino) New locked thoroughbreds are "hyperlocked" within the core itself, you can do what you did, but you wont change multiplier even in windows, thats why it crashes. I have tried this, and it works for ALL non-thoroughbred cores unffortunatlly....
Totalmultiplier controler cant change MP on thoroughbred's either. At least, thats what people are telling on other forums. Anyone have experience with it ?!

A better way is to buy the mobile CPU
But where things are getting confused (and yes it does work on the super-locked ultralocked whatever you want to call it Bartons)
is that the palominos you do a different bridge to the newer CPU's
the MP and Mobile bridges switch around
So for the superlocked bartons you would do the 4th bridge in from the L3 name.
All you do is shove pencil or silverpaste into the bridge and the job is done (normally)
You can then change multipliers in windows (CPUMSR or the above mentioned one0
It can be altered on VIA, SIS, AMD chipsets, nvidias have a problem, its not a software bug but a hardware bug (some VIA may need a reg# altering as well, mine doesn't)
You convert it to a mobile (athlonXP-m) not to a multi (athlonMP) although you can do both (a AthlonMP-m )
Yes it work, I currently used it for about a month now on my super locked 2500+ barton on a KT600 chipset.
One problem thouggh by default you'll be limited to 11.5x multiplier.
So you need to get your knife our and cut ALL the L6 bridges to get the max x25 multiplier (I only cut 2 in a way to get 12.5x)
Works well
