Curious weather i can stick this in all at once...
I'm finding more and more modules where you can only use a single kit and not 2 kits.. due to the modules design..... due to the motherboards own design usually as well, where 2 modules will not fit side by side .... aka.. can't use 4 modules...
ram i'm speaking of course..
i'm currently considering getting 2 of these kits
OCZ Technology | Products | Memory | OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 Reaper HPC 4GB Edition
as the other modules won't fit (even ocz see's the issue by placing a note on the website.. about it)

i think it's not about motherboards design problem. the heat spreaders too thick and you can't install 4 DIMM modules.
quite a few out there are having this problem, some of new GeIL 2x2GB RAM with their Evo spreaders have this problem.
have you tried contacting OCZ's CS or tech support about this? you ought to make sure you can install the 4x2GB before you buy the RAMs.

if you don't plan to overclock at all, or overclock your Q6600 to 400 FSB,
check out DDR2-800 8GB kit, G.Skill has a "PQ" model the price is very reasonable.
since you already plan to install 8GB of RAM into your system, if you care about your data at all, with 8GB and non ECC RAM, i suggest you buy 8GB RAM kit.

hmm... i'll look into those ones
but i was planning on pushing the overclocking a considerable amount.. because everything else in my machine appears to be rock solid except for the ram.

when your data is a more important kind than a desktop and game system, like a workstation/server system,
it's a reason why your board has a support for ECC RAM. 8GB is quite a bit of RAM on a system, the more errors can be occur. sometimes you won't/don't notice it yet.
get the non ECC RAM that, has been tested for using as a 8GB, at least.
and don't overclock it at all, or just overclock your system at only 400 FSB.

i don't think my system support ecc....... i never checked it lol..
all i know is that i'm running rather stable just with a marginal overclock........ but i know system memory is holding me back from hitting the peak my q6600 could manage

GA-X38-DQ6 supports for DDR2 1200/1066/800/667MHz, ECC, non ECC memory modules.
also, you might want to remember this info...
clock generator: ICS9LPRS914EKL
