i just OCd my radeon x2300 from 479.25/396.00 Mhz to 627/513 Mhz. it did get an improovment, in 3dmark03 i got 1960 stock and 3106 OCd. The next thing i want to do is OC my processor, a T2130, 1.86 dual core with 533 FSB.
But the problem is that i its a laptop, and its in warranty. Is there any software that can do this? Because I dont want to open the casing and loose the warranty

Your going to run into alot of thermal issues overclocking a laptop....as far as Software based overclocking for RAM/Processor I really dont recommend it at all, its not stable and can damage stuff if something goes amiss.

i am not going to oc it to 3 ghz, i am thinking just to bring the FSB up a little bit to 667 mhz, or if this i stoo much i will get more speed out of it. and the cooling is ok right now, anyway if i see that the fan doesn't do any good after OCing it i will revert it to default.
btw, i am running vista, and the mobo is made by asus and it has a SiS 671 fx/dx/mx chipset with a sis 968 southbridge, i forgot to mention that
so please tell me what software can i use

Never overclock CPUs or Memory using applications that run within windows, they can't change properties that are needed to maintain a stable Overclock.
Unless you can do it in the BIOS don't bother, and if it's a laptop, then definately don't bother. You'll seriously end up killing the laptop, even a slight OC could end up putting out an extra few degrees that the cramped conditions inside a laptop can't disperse properly.

i am going to raise the freq. just a bit, and anyway my cooling system is really great, the fan doesnt even go to max speed and it does the job. can you please point me to something that could help me? I have a SiS 671DX chipset on the mobo.

I dont know of anything really for that chipset for overclocking..... As for windows programs? They only really come with certain enthusiast motherboards from Asus, Gigabyte,DFI and the likes, there are some for changing fsb only, you cant change voltages or anything from windows, well efficiently and safely that is.....

I really cant recommend any Windows based program for overclocking, that being said I am not going to randomly link you some program that could do it because it may damage your computer, and I wouldnt want to be the one to blame. Also I couldnt tell you the first thing about said program(s).

Yeah dude i'd seriously advise leaving the OC on the laptop if there's no options to OC in the BIOS. And even if there are any options, leave it. You'll have an overheat on your hands no matter what.

the fsb was all i wanted to change, make it from 533 to 667. but if no one can think of a program.... i'll leave it alone. thanks anyway

If you've overclocked the GPU you're well ahead of most people who run laptops.

I would have to repeat what other people are saying about OCing the CPU and FSB..... JUST DON'T

If you really want to OC a laptop that badly (and ruin the battery life in doing so, effectively making it a desktop replacement), get one of the new fancy Asus ones which I hear allow you to OC from the BIOS

well i don't find it so hard to OC the GPU. it was a 26-27% boost. the temps didn't went up at all. everything was normal. and i got 1000 points more in 3dmark03. not impressive but it is a performance boost when needed.
I left the fsb oc-ing alone. i'm not going to do it. thanks anyway for helping with your opinions guys.

Oh and by the way, by OCing the graphics card you probably already voided your warranty.

its just temporary. i am more worried about the fact that i flashed my bios with a newer version that ASUS had on theyr web page... and this because the graphics card was reporting 64 Mb of memory when it should have 128. and after the bios update it showed 128

Flashing your BIOS isn't really that big of a deal as far as the warranty goes. I'm sure the company won't say a thing about that considering its just like updating drivers essentially. (aside from the "its more complicated than that" part it is essentially the same concept)

Even if you do it once they can tell you know. They have special tools.

Not that I think they will actually check but technically you've still voided the warranty.

bringing an old thread back to live here but i figured i'd throw my .02 in here. On another forum I am on someone created something that is exactly what you are looking for and a lot of people are having a lot of success with it and not a whole lot of heating issues. You just have to pay attention to what you are doing.
