Athlon XP2200+ @ 2.05Ghz

I had a PSU blowout last month that took out my mobo and cpu.

Since then I have bought a replacement motherboard (GB GA-7VAXP Ultra) and received a new 2200+ from AMD since it was under warranty

Well the new CPU is just amazing. The old 2200+ would only allow me to hit 1.92Ghz or so and still be stable.

This new CPU is currently running at 171*12 @ 1.75V

Now here is my question. With the side of the case off it is running at about 40C idle and 45C when at full load with a volcano9 HSF and some AS3 and this is during the daytime and I live in eastern washington (desert terrain).

Are my temps fine or should I be seeking some better way of cooling?

whoa so my temps arent too bad then eh?

i've tried to push it higher like using 168*12.5 to get 2.1Ghz but no matter where I put the voltage its no dice so 2.05Ghz is as close as Im going to get......a 250Mhz overclock.....not bad for what the tables all say is a lowend version of the Tbred A.

Your temp seems exactly right as compared to mine, however I am new to AMD processors, so I really can't tell you from past experience.

Yeah, the slk900/800 is kinda pricey, and dosen't come with a fan.

shai, where'd you get your slk? and what temps you at?

crash - your 45c full load temp is fine though not too sure I'd like keeping me case open especially in our desert terrain....

The area around where I live has been landscaped using some clay and other mineral to grow grass so not too much sand to get in components luckily for me heh.....whereas where you are if you dont have sand in everything then something must be wrong

My mobo box has all these little logos saying its features and one of them says OverClocking so it's made for it.
