A7N8X OC'ing help

Now that everything is working OK with my system, I wanna start OC'ing it.

Since I'm new to AMD processors and DDR RAM, I want some pointers on OC'ing. Any help would be appreciated, knowledge, guides, etc.

*specs*
ASUS A7N8X Dlx
2200+
2x256 Corsair PC3200 RAM (low-latency)
Tt Volcano 9

Thanks in advance, Dom.

You need to search the web for some AMD forums, and ask a lot of questions about O/Cing if this is your first time overclocking AMD procs. especially with this board, its kinda new...here is a small guide to get you going http://forum.overclockersonline.com/...?threadid=4383

Now try www.google.com and search for IE: ASUS A7N8X Deluxe Overclocking- or something similiar... at any rate watch your temps. Also these NForce2 boards have a flaky bios, so be warned... read read read then go for it.

I also take no responsiblity for what you do, remember overclocking is at your own risk...Good Luck

System Specs

I see you have a 2200+ which are not exactly known to be the best OC'ers. Since I don't think that those can be unlocked, you'll have to use the fsb to OC. If you bought it recently though, it might be a Tbred B, so it's worth a shot to try and see if it's unlocked. Go up on the multiplier by .5x and see if it even posts; if it doesn't then it's not gonna work. In that case I would go up on the fsb by 1-2MHz at a time until it locks up, at which point you'll have to give it more juice. Go up .25v at a time if you have probs. I would also not recommend running it past 50C. ALso make sure you lock the AGP at 66MHz. It's all trial and error, and you'll probably have to clear the cmos afew times. A small tip, if you can boot and have to clear the bios is to hold down the Invert key and pressing the Backspace key while booting. This might save you from having to clear the cmos. Good luck and let us know how it goes. You'll be set if that mobo unlocks the cpu

I brought the multiplier up from 13.5 to 14.0, didn't post. Tried raising the FSB by 1Mhz, wouldn't post. Each time I also tried to raise the core voltage by .25v, but nothing.

Could it be because I'm running my RAM in sync with the FSB?

Like i said Dom, use that link i gave you.. peeps there know this board better than me. theres a lot of crap to do sometimes with AMD/NForce2 boards... there not like Intel.. where you just up the FSB\Vcore till she stops.

Theres AGP lock, Mem timings, and multi/Vcore, and maybie even unlocking your proc. wish i could help more, but i only know a little bout AMD.

Good Luck.

Unless someone here can help?
