Parhelia???
Maybe I'm asking the wrong ppl...lol as this is the Parhelia section, but I' am intersted in the card. As a work card but how does it fair for gaming? as I know it is only partial Dx 9 ? as I was hoping to use it as a dual purpose card.
Would it be wiser to go for a Radeon 9700 ? or ideally both ...lol

For my purposes....I wouldn't even condsider it!!!
I am an engineering student and the Heidi AutoCAD drivers make this card a keeper.
The fact that it has excellent multimonitor support, 2D image quality, and still has the ability to play games.....I find it to be the best-rounded card on the market...and I shall keep it for years to come (that's how most Matrox cards are)...

Yes
But, then I'd have to sell it after I realised that I have no use for it

The only worry I have about the Parhelia is that I have heard that it gives bad performance in game based on the half life engine, the main being CS and in general it ony runs around 60 fps. Atleast this is what I have heard in the matrox forums Do the latest drivers fix this problem ?

I don't play CS.
But I hear the framerate takes a serious hit when any player/hostage model is displayed. This is a bug and is being looked into.

its still early days for such a new product, I think matrox will come out with a killer driver soon. I have certainly not seen a better graphics card than the Parhelia for 2d work.

This is currently a bug with all Quake2-based games. It should be fixed in the next driver release...

Just hop on over to the forums http://www.matroxusers.com
You should be able to find what you're looking for there in the benchmarks forum...

Parhelia is not good in benchmarks, but this is not real world preformerance. So it is not good question. But, it is an excellent card.
Have you got yours?
