I got a Voodoo5500. Recommended Drivers?
I just got a 64MB PCI Voodoo 5500 to run as a secondary card on my
AMD 900MHz T-Bird
Asus A7V Motherboard, Bios: Latest.
256MB PC133
GeForce 2 GTS 64MB AGP on 30.82 Driver.
WinME.
Any suggestions on what drivers to use?
I'm currently looking at "Omega"'s 1.03 driver.
Thanks,
DrCR
P.s. I got the card cause I want to run some glide-based software, i.e. Independence War: Deluxe.
Yes, I'm behind the times.

At http://www.voodooalert.de/content/treiber.php
>>What about :
Aktueller Treiber, volle DX8 Unterstützung
=Current driver, full DX8 support
Datei=File 1.08.04 ?
Is'nt this alot newer driver? What, does it drop image quality or FPS to acheive DX8 combatibility ie Why 1.05 instead?
>>Or what about :
Letzter offizieller 3dfx Treiber
=Last official 3dfx driver
File 1.04.01
What does the Voodoolizer 1.05.00 correct on this driver to acheive 1.05 status?
Just an Voodoo driver ignorant newbe Thanks for your help!

To be honest...
...I have no clue. The Voodoolizer 1.05.00 was the set I installed last time and that I'm running on Blue right now and I can't for the life of me recall why I chose it out of all the available ones, but they work pretty well for what I'm doing so I keep 'em. (Blue is pretty much a web cruiser/tv/dvd/mult-media machine anymore over a gamer, but just wait until I put me Tuly & 9000 Pro in there! )

Do you think I would have problems trying to run the V5 PCI card secondary to the primary nvidia GF2 GTS card?

No clue, I've never tried that. I have an AGP V5 so it's an all or nothing thing for me.

The 1.08 drivers are almost exactly like the 1.04 drivers. They were made slightly after the 1.04 by former 3dfx staff. The 1.09 drivers had alot more work done on them by former 3dfx staff. They have about a years worth of work. I don't know much about the voodooliser drivers, but if voodooalert.de likes them better I would go with them.

I have just about all the versions worth looking at downloaded. Just wanted to see if anyone really praised one or the other. Will probably try drivers in this order:
1.04.01 - Last official drivers
Voodoolizer 1.05.00
1.08.04
1.09 BETA 10
Iceman
Once I can compair them, I be sure to post my thoughts. I'm still waiting for someone to really praise a particular driver based on experience, but hasen't happen yet.

Please do! I'm hoping to get a chance to swap out the mobo/memory/CPU on Blue tonight and I know it's a LOT more fun playing with the V5 on the Tuly 1.4Ghz instead of the PIII800.

Wow it's been a while! I actually wanted to give an update, but I lost track of where this thread was.
The Voodoo 5 5500 64MB PCI is running just fine on my system. I tryed voodizer and a few other ones but I eventually went with the last official voodoo driver (works for me since all I wanted to do was play Independence War 1...actually just finished the campain a few weeks ago ).
Asus A7V
AMD 900MHz
MSI FX5600 128MB VIVO
Voodoo 5 5500 PCI 64MB (secondary)
512MB PC133 CL3
WinME

The V5 6000 was never released. Only a few 'development' boards were made. Would be at least GF3 level, perhaps even on the GF4 side of things, but I doubt beyond that.
Just an update...
I sold my primary video card (Radeon 9700 Pro). I've have quite a few over the years with my V5 secondary to those. So I've been running on my V5 exclusivily. My WinOS crashed today (what's new lol. FYI I'm checking out Linux, Slackware10 in particular) so when I reinstalled, I when ahead and tryed the 1.09 Beta10 drivers. They're awesome! You can customize your refresh settings! So sweet since my monitor didn't like the default options the 1.4 driver included. The only bummer with the 1.09 Beta10 is that the desktop gamma slider is missing. It is mentioned the the readme as 'I'll get to that soon', but I haven't seen a newer version. Oh well. That's what you get when your running a 5 year old computer part and the manufacturer is long gone! lol It silder is present for 3D modes (DX and OpenGL) so that's all that really matters anyway.
Is 3DHQ no more? Just curious. I really wouldn't be suprised if they were considering how old these cards are now.
