Sony rolls out new Everquest expansion pack

"World of Warcraft isn't the only online game to get a new update as one of the Internet's classic multiplayer games, Everquest, gets a new expansion pack. Prophecy of Ro from Sony Online Entertainment will be available in retail stores and in download format in February. The new expansion pack adds new missions and will also allow them to destroy certain world objects like doors, walls and encampments.

Sony's Everquest empire spans two versions of Everquest along with several expansion packs. Both editions are set in the virtual world of Norrath, but Everquest II occurs 500 years later. Once the undisputed leader in online gaming, with around 500,000 subscriptions, the game's base has waned with the increased popularity of Blizzard's World of Warcraft and NCsoft's Lineage. Blizzard recently announced that World of Warcraft has surpassed five million accounts.
