Finishing up the 2005 balance sheet, Taiwanese manufacturer Asus released some preliminary revenue and shipment results. According to Sunny Han, the firm's global brand director, the company revenues are up more than 55%, climbing from $7.7 billion in 2004 to more than $12 billion in 2005.
According to Han, Asus became the largest player in motherboard market. The firm shipped 52 million boards, resulting in a 35% market share, he said. This business turned out to be especially profitable for the company: While motherboard manufacturers typically see margins in a range between 10 and 20%, Han said Asus achieved 30% "in the more expensive models."
