Sony Electronics Inc. announced on Tuesday plans to launch several enhanced professional-level LCD and plasma displays with improved networking and display capabilities.

Sony said it will roll out three updated FWD-series display models, all of which were designed for use in business settings (anywhere from retail shops to hotels), according to a recent news release.

"These are significant upgrades to our professional display category," Tak Inagaki, general manager for Sony's Display Marketing group, said in a statement.

"Our diverse lineup and networking cards expand application-based solutions. They make digital signage easy and affordable for businesses of all sizes."

Sony says it will make available the 32-inch FWD-32LX1R and the 40-inch FWD-40LX1 models, both with LCD screens to offer a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Sony's 50-inch FWD-50PX2 plasma display features a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and 60,000+ hours of life.
