RIAA to Expand Attack on File Swappers
The RIAA on Thursday announced another round of lawsuits on Thursday against 765 "Internet thieves" across the United States, emboldened by last month's decision by the Supreme Court that said file sharing networks can be held responsible for their users' actions.
The "John Doe" lawsuits -- where the filing litigant is given a set amount of time to positively identify the defendant -- were filed across several federal district courts in eight states. In addition to Thursday's actions, 176 named defendant lawsuits were filed last week in 25 states, which all came out of previous John Doe suits. The names of the individuals were obtained through Internet service provider logs. _________________________ Read More/Source: BetaNews |

This type of gestopo tactic is just plain wrong.Hell it's gettin so you can't even breath in the good ole USA any more with out getting goverment approval. What ever happened to "A goverment for the People and by the People, seems the very things our forefathers left their other countries for to come to the new world, has befallen us.

To stir up an old argument. Why is the music/movie industry so disturbed? I mean for goodness sakes in the 80's we had casset tapes and VHS tapes. In the 90's we had CDR and DVDR, AND hard drives.
They survived through all of that and didn't take people to court for copying a friends tape or CD. Now all of a sudden that it's accessable on the internet...it's sacrilidge and everyone should be sued. Sorry but it was much easier to copy music onto a cassete tape than to download a song. So much less RISK.

BAh! I really want to see a massive anti RIAA MPAAmovement. They the riaa should be horrased,
picketed and bashed. Them and thier families. The same goes for it's membership...I'd rather RIAA people have to hide and be affraid Alsthough I'm affarid it would takes acts of voilence to get them to rethink anything. For example if the RIAA head qurter wer to blow up and everyone die more people would probubly rejoice then feel bad. Thing is It hard to get people to organaise. ESpecally when those people have want and needs. All the fat cat care about is line thier pocket with all the money. Not to mention all the money they dick the authors out of. they make roughly 15 times cost on a CD, it about $1.00 if that thats includeing royalty, copying costs. That just a full 12-18 trace CD. That and alot of times they force you to but that just for 1 or 2 good songs... The autors and artist make chicenfeed while the company rools in thier hundreds of millions.
