NHL 2002 performance is up as much as 35% across the entire product line (largest gains on RADEON 7500/8500)

Performance on legacy (dx6 and dx7) apps is improved by as much as 15% for RADEON 9700 Series products

Features Added

DX Override Refresh Rate - Users can easily override refresh rate limitation imposed by both Windows 2000 and Windows XP, which limits the default refresh rate to 60 HZ when applications are run at a different resolution than the resolution of your desktop. Currently users are only able to override the refresh rate for DirectX applications, a future driver release will allow users to override the refresh rate for OPEN GL applications as well.

CATALYST 02.4 gives provides users with a new level of stability using SMARTGART 2. SMARTGART 2 gives users access to both the basic and advanced functionality through two control panel pages:

The Catalyst 02.4 driver also offers customer-setting options for formats supported by YPrPb monitors/TVs. Televisions are typically over scanned (i.e., the actual image goes marginally outside of the normal viewing area of the display). Selecting an Optimized Format will compensate for this over scanning, for the chosen format, and allow the entire desktop to fit the viewing area. Or read the PDF file HERE

Tell us what you think in our forum.

Thanks goes to Mr.B for this one

I don't know if anybody else is getting this, but on the XP Start Menu when you go to the programs and it shows all of them, some of the items are shadowed out from overlapping the rest of the start menu. If anybody else has this problem, let me know so I know it's not just me

Everything in the ATI smartgart util is greyed out- I have no PCI read/write or AGP read/write- my performance is sucking, and I can't get AGP working in any of the drivers now. Help!

New Drivers

Reply to DeathscytheFish: I am not getting that effect at all. All my windows and start menu look fine. Reply to feedback: I installed these drivers over the 6193 and it all worked out okay. I have access to my smartgart and all. You may want to uninstall your drivers and start again. You may want to follow the guide hereUninstalling ATI Drivers I find it to be very excellent.

I also did a clean driver install (like I always do!) and have no problems with start menu->programs and I have full access to smartgart utils..... Having great performance with these drivers and am really, really happy

6193 drivers - 9774 3dmark

Tried DX9 along with DX9 driver - 9678 and had slow down spots and big FPS dips in RTCW and MOHAA so immediately hit sys restore.

6200C drivers - 9802 and my MOHAA spearhead has never looked or performed better. Good job ATI!

I haven't found much info on these drivers yet, (just released of course) but will these drivers FINALLY support mobility chipsets??

I'am already praying for a yes

I would test it out myself, but I don't have my laptop with me right now.

So if any of you peeps knows something about this, please share it with us.

Regards

I installed the XP Driver 6.13.10.6200
just before they that had to be removed from driversheaven
on my mobility M6 Dell - after having uninstalled the plutonium 6166 - and they are OK (except for a few glitches).

I'm very impressed with these drivers UT2K3 seems faster and smoother, EverQuest is also just a tad faster.

Only minor issue I have is with the Smartgart utility fast writes will not stay enabled after rebooting when prompted. It's enabled in the bios . All in all a great effort by Ati these drivers are keepers

why don't you try?
if they don't work, boot in safe mode, remove them and reinstall your old ones.

as long as you follow the *right* procedure for uninstalling (see the ati drivers forum here) you'll be fine.

Pissed

The non-catalyst drivers work, but the new ones dont. All but Omega's drivers give me an error about needing to install a standard VGA driver first, or inf driver not found.

@feedback:

did you try to uninstall the drivers properly and then (i think it was) in safe-mode to install the new ones manually , reboot and THEN start the setup.exe?
works fine for me

I have another problem too involving vsync. Now (after installing the 6200 drivers a while ago with a modded inf file), every driver set installed (even on a clean copy of windows, though not reformatted!) has this problem where when in an openGL game, when the fps drops below the vsync level, it gets REALLY SLUGGISH, and I know this is not normaly because it used to work perfectly. The game seems to slow down time wise as the fps rate drops, where as it used to be almost unnoticable.

This is only openGL games...

??? Mobility

The same as for a lot of other forum posters:

I'd like to know how to make "normal" driver releases to work on a Mobility (M7 in my case) system.
I have a feeling it's not something too difficult to acheive.

As a laptop user I have to wait either for Omega releases or Dell 's ones.
And to be honest both of them aren't really frequent.
(I'm not complaining about Omega's work: I'm still using his drivers, and I'm pretty happy about them; Dell's ones instead tend to suck!)

Thanks in advance...

Drivers Installed BUT

I am unable to set the smartgart to work. When I hit retest it says on however after resetting it goes back to the off position. This is also the same for the AGP 1x-4x, defaults back to one. I have the ATI radeon 8500 and a jetway 266B motherboard. I thought the 8500 could do 4x
