AMD has no plans to go BTX

His answer was that AMD had no plans to back BTX, and any intention to do so would depend on customers demanding it. This is AMD speak for no, we won't be promoting it at all.

Intel announced the BTX specifications and claims that it is its integrated solution for reducing noise, and making better thermally managed systems.Indeed, according to FSP, Intel predicts that by 2006, 50 per cent of PCs will use BTX, and it will introduce its Intel-approved PSUs early next year.

yay! still standing strong, woohoo. For normal size PCs, BTX is a joke
a. I cant use my ATX case anymore if it happens.
b. It "saves" the CPU but blows all that nice warm air over other critical components, such as video card for example.

And don't forget were all useing RAMBUS memory right now according to intels previous predictions

50% of PC's eh so they plan to sell 2x the mother boards and cpus next year
then has been sold since the dawn of the pc eh.... impossable

Maybe they mean 50% of new PC's but even then most people are useing AMD like 500 to 1 when it comes to custom / home builds.... But intel has the OEMs / companies like DELL etc.. in thier corner to a point.... But even they are going to introduce some AMD models something tell me intels full of #$%
or thier counting on AMD / VIA / SIS / (AMD & INTEL boards) to pick up on the standard

Didn't they say something similar about micro atx? taking over?? and it's got like 10-12% of the market?

Good, BTX is worthless. ATX works just fine.

well, we'll see what really happens over the next few years. However, it would be a shame to see ATX die out.
