Default Post Need more storage, money no object??

Winchester Systems has introduced its ultra-high performance FlashDisk OpenRAID using 146 GB low-profile disk drives to provide 1.7 TB in a single enclosure.

FlashDisk OpenRAID models using 146 GB disk drives are designed for the most storage intensive applications including data warehousing, data acquisition systems, near-line storage replacements, decision support systems, video and audio applications plus major e-commerce, financial, manufacturing and database applications.

"IT managers can now obtain a unique combination of high performance and high capacity with 12 low-profile drives running at 10,000 rpm said Jerry Namery, Chief Technology Officer. "This 1.7 TB unit will provide customers high capacity storage without sacrificing performance," he added.
Each FlashDisk OpenRAID unit holds 12 low profile disk drives of 146 GB each to store an unprecedented 1.7 TB. The FlashDisk 82" high Data Center Cabinet will hold 9 rackmount units plus a UPS to store over 15 TB in just 6 square feet of floor space. FlashDisk OpenRAID is a true hardware, plug-and-play storage solution, which emulates standard SCSI disks - eliminating proprietary host software, and the need for software drivers of any kind. It supports hardware RAID 1, 3, 5, 1+0 and RAID 15 for data protection. FlashDisk OpenRAID attaches via industry standard fibre channel and SCSI interfaces to host servers including SUN, HP, IBM and Intel. FlashDisk OpenRAID models are available in rackmount and pedestal configurations. A 1.7 TB FlashDisk unit with 12 disk drives of 146 GB each is priced at $50,731 including cables and delivery is 3 weeks.
