Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Elite review
"In recent years Microsoft's cordless keyboard and mouse combinations have fallen behind Logitech’s offerings in terms of aesthetics and features. The Wireless Optical Desktop Elite aims to change that, with a freshly redesigned keyboard and the wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0, both featuring horizontal scroll wheels, aimed squarely at the Cordless MX duo. Do they succeed?"
"To be honest, I’ve never really been much of a fan of the button-laden multimedia superstar keyboard. My board previous to this one was a Microsoft Internet keyboard, and by the time I managed to locate and press the tiny “home page” button, I could’ve double clicked the E on my desktop four or five times. The Elite keyboard, however, has made me a complete convert." ' Source: OcPrices |

Well, having gotten this set for Christmas I can see that the good was reported while the bad was barely touched.
Specifically stated was the FPS sampling rate of the mouse. What wasn't stated was that the mouse wheel doesn't "click", it just scrolls like a bicycle wheel. What this means is that I zip through 50 weapons in my FPS games before the wheel settles on a small knife or letter opener to fight off the bad guys. I kept the keyboard, however. I just changed the mouse back to my logitech. |
