"A company whose DVD-copying software prompted copyright and piracy-related lawsuits from Hollywood is expanding into the realm of computer games, rolling out a system that lets game buyers make backup copies.

With 321 Studios Inc.'s Games X Copy software, launched last weekend, users can burn PC games onto a hard drive, CD or DVD. The company says parents requested those options to safeguard original discs from rough-and-tumble handling by young gamers.

"You no longer need to worry about scratches and broken or lost games," said Robert Moore, founder and president of 321, based in the St. Louis suburb of Chesterfield, Mo. "The software is easy enough to use that even the kids could make the backup and take it on vacation or to a friend's house - and parents no longer have to worry about the original being damaged or lost."

Thats exactly what they are doing to sell this, relying on their success with dvd's, but make no mistake about this, they do not use the same burning engine and right now they are not enjoying the same success with gamesxcopy, it is the biggest waste of money to hit the scene in a long time, their website and what it claims to be requirements are well....lies. They released software that they new had bugs in it. They used portions of daemon tools for the virtual drive, the big difference daemon tools works this doesn't, the next daemon tools is free, this is 60.00. I was asked make comparisons, I did, and so far this software really isn't worth anyones time to even use let alone buy. I have several basic problems into their tier 3 support and they have no idea how to fix the problems and I quote from an email response: "customers with issues with the program so we haven’t had time to see/fix any of the fine-tooth bugs quite yet. I really am not running you around, but at the moment I’m not sure which approach to take to fix this seeing as I don’t know “why” you are having these issues". Those issues would be installing an invisible virtual drive, it installed their scsi device and put a phantom virtual drive in my system but does not show up in my computer. They claim it will make copies, but it just doesn't period, they have really given truth in advertising a new meaning. think long and hard before purchasing this software, it really doesn't work.
