Re: Microsoft to Kill Silverlight Streaming

I have heard/read about Silverlight but never knew what it is good for? - Microsoft always pops new products without explaining-in-depth what it is for.

I would not wonder when Silverlight is completely disappearing from the scene

Re: Microsoft to Kill Silverlight Streaming

Silverlight free hosting is being discontinued, not sure if this means anything for the rest of Microsoft's futile challenge to the dominance of Flash, Shockwave and Java.

Silverlight, just another plugin that some stuff forces you to download!

Re: Microsoft to Kill Silverlight Streaming

This should have killed Flash a long time ago. During the olympics many events were live streaming silverlight and it was clear and good resolution. Even expanded to full screen. Meanwhile Adobe won't even make Flash in 64 bit...

yeah, but for those of us not on 30MB lines, it absolutely sucked
i tried watching tv shows a couple times on sites using silverlight (sites which i'd previously watched without problem when they used flash), and the shows stopped to buffer every 5 secs. every time and every site i tried.
flash is far from perfect, but this was never gonna be a serious contender to replace it imo
no loss
