A provision in the federal Communications Decency Act (CDA) protects domain name registrars and Web hosting providers from being held legally liable in most cases for the content that clients post on their Web sites. But that hasn't stopped some companies from trying to pressure Internet intermediaries into disabling Web sites that contain what they consider to be objectionable material.

It's not just De Beers they take a pop at, the spoof Monsanto ad (home page section only) is a gem.

Going off the subject a bit, on one radio program, looking at gold prices, they posed the question:
"Why is gold valuable?"

What at first may seem a stupid question, but which could be applied to diamonds as well.

Obviously, things like the amount of supply and industrial uses give a commodity a certain basic worth, and in the case of gold, it is easier to asses the weight and purity.

The net result of the discussion, was that it has value because people perceive it to have value.
