nice. I have actually seen a cheap PSU explode. (Under much less than a 75% load....)

See also, the JohhnyGuru "Budget PSU roundup"
JonnyGURU.com - Power Supply Reviews and more! - Reviews - The Bargain Basement Power Supply Roundup I'll summarize the degree of ghastlyness: 1. Chiefmax 650W - dead @ lowest test 2. Delta 300W - delivered rated load, shutdown when pushed, the only one alive at test end. 3. Hairong 480W - good for same load as "300W", but 12V had a a 10A rating, died well short of any semblance of 480W 4. Powork PW-650 - made it (with signs of overheating) to 380W, then died. Same board as Chiefmax 5. Premier 300W - died on first test if not before 6. Real PC power Silence Blue (550W) - made it to 291W, then fireworks! 7. Topower 300W - aged unit, and in badcap trouble Makes me wonder, just how good was that trust 370W I used as a replacement for a failing Bestec - £24.99 from Maplin - seeing them at online stores for down to less than a tenner planted it very firmly in the "budget" end, was forgetting the kind of markup there is at places like PC World and Maplin. I really need to get in a "stock" PSU, as I will inevitably need another replacement at some point, I seem to be the guy that friends and associates of turn to when their computers crack up, and it generally doesn't need to be a super power monster, it just needs to be an honest 300-350 watter.
