Western Digital WD6400AAKS Review

We've been giving a lot of attention to one terabyte hard drives recently. Not everyone actually needs a terabyte of storage, however. Sometimes you just want an affordable drive with enough capacity and good performance.

Enter Western Digital, with their new WD6400AAKS 640GB Caviar SE16 drive. Not long ago, Western Digital joined the rarified ranks of companies shipping 320GB per platter with a 320GB version of the SE16. They took that drive, added another platter and two more heads, and have been shipping the 640GB version for a few weeks.
