Apple Introduces the MacBook Air

It's all Macworld, all day long today, right? At Macworld, in his keynote today, Steve Jobs announced the MacBook Air, the thinnest (he says, and it sure looks like it!) laptop in production. Click the above image to see it being put into an interoffice envelope.

It's priced at $1,799 to start and will be available in two weeks.

no memory card reader, no cdrom, 1 usb port.. no mic in, heft price.... whyyyyyyyy?

Exactly.

No LAN, plug a flash drive or a card reader and you can't use a mouse... Of course, one can use a USB hub, but wouldn't it be better to have a couple more ports? No, because a clean case looks much better, though an extra box, the USB hub (which is almost a must with this notebook), lying next to it kind of spoils the impression a bit. But, at first sight, it's really pretty and it's a Mac.

Prefer my XPS M1330 by a LONG way... It's actually usuable too

i don't see this laptop replacing the typical laptop usage - but i can see it being useful for places like uni lectures, or just using it in a situation where portability is really important
it's not going to replace business oriented or gaming laptops, but it is a pretty neat idea

but the cost...

I think its attractive and neat, but I can't believe the price considering what it comes with.

The freakin battery isn't replaceable!?! No optical drive?!? What the hell does it do? Seems like a flashy and freakin expensive PDA.
