MS Office Validation Now Mandatory

Source: BetaNews
_______
Want to use the extra features within Office? Be prepared to verify that your copy of the productivity suite is genuine. While the so-called Office Genuine Advantage has been around since April, Microsoft did not make it mandatory until Friday. Starting today, using Office Online templates would require the validation, and the ability to download updates would also require verification beginning in January.

I love my OpenOffice. I am not sure if I am against or in favour of the validation mentioned above.

TheBlackCat will become famous soon enough

I hate openoffice. I never bothered reinstalling when I reformatted. Just so many illogical features and so many missing features.

I don't care about validation. Anyone who is stupid enough to pirate key products like their operating system or MS office deserves what is coming to them. And it is not like Microsoft is leaving them helpless, they are just only letting them DL optional components. Security updates are still available (although admittedly only because people screamed bloody murder when Microsoft tried to ban those as well).
