XFX 7950GX2 570M XXX Edition Video Card Review @ Legit Reviews

Review: Legit Reviews
___________
In March of this year NVIDIA announced the 7900 series update to their very successful 7800 lineup. By adopting the new 90nm manufacturing process they retained the same architecture of the class leading 7800’s but were able to reduce power requirements, significantly increase clock speeds, and lower the heat output of the cards. In our review of the 7900 GTX we noted that while it had great performance, it wasn’t the king of the hill. By accounts of many enthusiasts the ATI X1900XTX is the leader in single card solutions.

Now, with the launch of the 7950GX2 NVIDIA takes the next step in video card evolution, the multi-GPU “single” card. While technically it is two boards screwed together, it is a single card solution in that it only requires a single PCI-E slot. By leveraging the power of SLI on a single card this promises to be the absolute fastest single card solution today. The benefits of this are packaging, price, and performance. There are also other benefits which we will get to shortly.

I dont know about that kingsownall. The 7950GX2 are being priced at around 599$ and a x1900xtx is at about 485$ And considering prices on it for sure will drop some weeks after it's been on the market, 1900xtx has to drop in price to be competive, about 175-200$ cheaper sounds right to me.

I dont think ATI is gonna make a similar solution, but work on the updated r580 0.08 micron version.

I loathe how they omit results that might of made the nw NV Card not shine as much
IE "3D Mark 2006" an many of the games they didn't list crossfire X1900, yet in the
page before (FEAR) they've posted x1900 crossfire results. Of course makeing the NV card look like it jumps out unrealistically.... So I'd ask where is the X1900XTX crossfire results? the ones they curiously "omited"....

EDIT

OMG!!!! that totally reminds me yet again of this

very simular in idea/looks, two cards pre sandwiched

Wrong
Of course its a faster sollution from the X1900xtx
It's a MultiGPU sollution after all

The problem is that as a price\performance sollution is a waste money and especially with the new G80 (aka Geforce 8 series probably) and R600 going to be introduced in 1 or 2 months

You can use that argument for any top of the line video card though.. There will always be a faster one soon. it is about the fastest single slot card on the planet, of course it is going to be expensive.

These are facts though.. hard to argue with that..

[COLOR=Red]Just 3 months ago this level of SLI performance would have cost you at least $1300, which is what a pair of 7800GTX 512 were priced at. Today you can have even better performance than that for less than the price of a single 7800GTX 512...truly impressive! What's more is that you no longer need an SLI motherboard to get the full performance of two video cards. NVIDIA has raised the bar in this area and we'll have to see if ATI can match them.

In today's world the only two solutions faster are the X1900 CrossFire and NVIDIA's own 7900 GTX SLI, both of which will cost you at least $900 without a CrossFire/SLI capable motherboard. The 7950GX2 gives you nearly the same performance for hundreds less and gives you an upgrade path which neither of those two can ever offer

The review has a lot of inconsistancies... they list some cards in one result, others in the next.. I bet other people, with the same exact setup would see different results. Some of the results don't make much sense. I wonder if the card was messed up or something.
