I recommend you guys join some form of Cross Country team or long distance running program if its available to you. Its hard like the first day, but after about a week, you'll be able to run 12 miles without breakin a sweat .

Cool! I've always been a skinny guy, but there is something intriguing to me about the Atkins diet. I mean, it is just so contrary to what we've been taught by the American Heart Association ("Less fat! Less fat! Less fat!").

True, I thought the same thing. But once I tried it I noticed a big diference from the other diets I've tried, I actually lost weight! Less fat is not what the body needs to loose weight. There are good fats and bad fats, give the body more of the good fats (which it needs to survive) and less of the fat it don't need and you will loose weight! The Atkins diet is the real deal on like SlimFast and other gimmick products that jerk you around. Of course, like anything that you want to succeed in, you must commit yourself.

Well, good news!
I might be a touch on the fat side, but I'm a healthy fat guy! I went to the doctors a couple of days ago for me happy meds maintanence and check-up, (I gave up on the shrink for me happy pills, or she gave up on me. Piece-o-advice: Never ask you shrink why you should take advice on being happy from such a bitter and hate-filled woman...they don't take it as well as you might expect. ), and found out that my weight hasn't fluctuated by more than 6 pounds in the last 3 years!
My blood pressure is great, me reflexes too. (Well, aside from being all slow & clunky.) It's a sort of scary feeling to have a doc tell me I'm in great shape, I almost felt like arguing with her over it.
So I can now officially lose 20-30lbs if'n I want and get back to me fighting weight. (Even though I don't fight, it's just a term.) I'm thinking that some light exercise to get started and then pick up a set of free weights to really get into it.
Any suggestions on good light exercises besides push-ups & sit-ups?

Both fats and carbohydrates contains calories. So, of course, being deprived of most of your carbohydrates will cause your body to burn fat for energy (this process is called lipolysis or something). It makes sense.
At any rate, Dom, I really have to congratulate you!
