is it possible to rip music from games?
hey, just wondering if its possible to rip the music off of games (ps2) and turn them into mp3's. the normal P2P and Torrent locations never have the entire collection, and only 1/4 of the songs ever show up individualy on P2P.

yes, but it's somewhat complicated.
There are files that people make that are called PSFs and PSF2s. This stands for Playstation sound file. The file itself is basically a snapshot of what is going through the soundprocessor at the time. It's similar to SPC files, if you're familiar with Super Nintendo music.
This is mainly for games like FFX, and such, which dont have actual live songs played off the disc.
The files can be found at various places on the Internet, its been a while since I looked into it so I'm not sure of them.
One plugin for playing them is called "Highly Experimental" I believe, a simple google search should locate the site. There are also links to PSF files there if I remember correctly.

I've noticed that some games just have a folder of all the music that is played in the game..

Or can you try hook line in from your ps2 to your line in jack back of your sound card that might work.

yea thats correct
the PSF files only work if the game has some sort of midi-like sound processing, like the final fantasy games. if it is actual music, then it is more than likely being read straight off the cd as audio files, instead of passing through the unit's sound processor.
I would do like LHC suggested. Just try seeing whats on the disc itself. You can actually play most old Playstation games in your usual cd players, since everything is written in tracks, just like audio cds.

I don't think your CD player could read DVDs.
