EEK! Winning lottery ticket purchased with stolen credit card

Some stupid lady bought a winning lotto ticket with a stolen credit card. The ticket costs a dollar. How can you not afford to pay for one ticket?

That was nuts eh? It actually came out at nearly 54 million jackpot, since ticket sales were so crazy that week. 17 workers, I think, in that firm are splitting it, with about 3.4 mill going to each one.

indeed, it would be a kick in the balls if the person who bought that combined ticket also used a fake visa HAHA

I say they exhume the body and re-bury it in a platinum and diamond encrusted casket as per the posthumous lotto winnings

You can not "profit" from a crime! Not in the US legal system...
It's the procedes of a crime and if anyone the state will get it..
She absoultly positively will not get the money

The ticket was bought with the stolen card there for it is
procedes / profit from the crime. So the woman won't get it...

The dead womon is dead and has no claim to the money so
she doesn't get it. Nor did she have anything to do with the
buying of the ticket.

The only people should should get anything out of this is the
latto will not pay out anything and actually they will try to recollect
what was paid out. hince why the police serached for the money...

I dont seeing the crimanal makeing off with a million from this.... sorry

Restitution in a criminal case is based on the victim's loss. The victim in this case is the dead person's estate, and the loss, as I said above, is one dollar, plus whatever fees generated by the bank in investigating the fraud.

There is no legal basis for government seizure of the million bucks.

Actully new information lest to me the dead woman who's card was used,
is the woman who stole / used the cards mother in law.

(They only been saying relative before)

She has been offically charged with
Idenity theft and forgery
in relation to this....

The money used to buy the ticket wasn't her’s she doesn't get the money / has
no claim to it. I go rob a bank of 10,000 and run and but 10,000 lotto tickets
and win. I would get $0 would I not if it was discovered the stolen money was
used. I wouldn't have claim, the bank wouldn't have claim so no one would need
to pay out the latto money.

Be just the same if I bought 10,000 in electronics the state would then seize
the electronics, return or sell them what ever to recoup the damages. I wouldn't
be allowed to "keep the stuff"....

If you give me a dollor to buy a ticket, and I buy you your ticket and foget
to give it to you and the next day it a winner you own the ticket , the procides
would belong to you would it not? But if they dollar was stolen from you, it
wouldn't belong to you either... only the $1 , and the money wouldn’t belonged to
me either… So it stays with the people that would have had to pay it out... the
lotto…

The goverment wouldn't be seizing anything, the latto would be resolved
of the obligation and liability to pay out the money. The lotto is part of the
state since it is run by the state.

It only makes since that she doesn't get a dime....

But hey in a legal system where criminals can rob you and the sue you for
Getting injured while doing so and be awarded massive money. I guess
Anything could happen.... Sorry I seem to be applying common since and
forgetting the government and legal system often has none
