More Unique and actually quite accurate Bandwidth tests
One site, nice layout, neato meters, tests both download and upload pretty quickly.
Tells you your download rate both in the kb and KB
Pretty slick and give you a few servers to test out.
Now mind you, no bandwidth test place does good, even the best have there moments of traffic.
However, this is one of the first to actually report probably 3 out of 10 tries on the same server, right on the money download/upload speed. (mind you my upload speed on all the test was actually on the money)
Gotta love driving the needle beyond the red though.
Here it is : http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
Have fun

i can occasionally pull what seems like lan like downloads through my ISPs network.. sub 10ms pings (i've seen 0 from one city to another )
atm, on my extreme high speed cable connection i get 8900kb/s and 1300kb/s (down/up) and that's to chicago.
You should see the results dualing up and load balancing the above.. it's more then double.... and just for kicks, i got to try out the 1gb fiber optic connection for a few weeks woot that sucker was fast, to bad majority of the rest of the net was way to bloody slow for it ... but hey, could i host files boy!

well we've a monopoly isp here called Sasktel, now they put wired this entire province with fiber optic cables, serveral years ago for (future use)..
Although you probably don't hear anything about them they are a multimillion (probably working in the billion, i'm not sure) company that owns SEVERAL companies.
I think i understand they are actually over in UK building up and rewireing there phone/internet lines atm.
In anycase, apparently they were testing out some new fiber optic connections and as i had been in there "beta" test run of the other high speed connections, apparently they thought i may be interested and would like me to try it out for a week (you know how they try and through stuff at you for free to get you hooked into buying there crap)...
well, i said sure, but had no intention of actually switching over. hey a free week to play around with some pretty fast net.. why not.
I was saposed to trial run it for 1 week, although i only got to use it for 3 days as i had to leave again for work, but within the 3 days, i initially had some problems. Not major, just occasionaly down time and slow speeds (which they traced to there routers or so i'm told).
In any case, there expecting to make fiber optics residentially available PERHAPS within a year, with what i was wold, least costly package being 15mb, next 50mb, and 100mb. Business are able to get there 250mb/500mb/1gb speeds.
Now don't know about the rest of you, but i'm guessing they or someone else found out a rather cheap solution for fiber optic routers or whatever they were finding costly. I mean the cables damn cheap.
So outa the 3 days, i had occasionally "1gbps" internet. Which, when it worked good, damn, it worked my gaud good. (they gave me a 1gb ethernet card, as at the time, i didn't have anything over 100mb ethernet)
Want some more info, the cable is thick, seriously, damn thick and appears to be pretty hard to cut through. (makes sence) You got your little modem like any other high speed connection uses, and your ethernet cable that's saposed to be rated 1gbps. I know a little about network stuff, but not a whole lot so me asking the right questions didn't seem to come naturally.
If i had bit torrent lol.....
