Yea, Neweeg is REALLY great with shipping.. I've heard they're great with RMAs too.. not saying that you'd have to do that
But congrats, I don't see much of a point in upgrading just yet personally

Ha, my dad found a computer and moniter in the trash yesterday (it was an old Gateway) so he brought it home and I plugged it in and all..
Running Windows 98
7 GB hard drive
Pentium 2 (don't know the speed)
64 MB ram
But it runs fine and all.. tons of recipes in the My Documents folder that my mom would like and a folder on the desktop called "300 great games for Windows 98"
It is also running Word 97
Edit: And I'm also thinking about using the CRT that he picked up with it as a second moniter

Yeah it's great when you get to order all your parts, I remember ordering all my stuff when i moved to pci-e and 64bit, everything was coming from different suppliers so it was like christmas, come to think of it, it was BETTER than christmas.
Good luck with the build don't forget to print off the boards for something to read when you're without system.

Lol, live in America : ). Yeah when I went downstairs to check my packages it was like Christmas (without the flue I get every year). I rushed up to my room, posted the thread and took everything out to gander at its beauty. I won't take anything out of the packaging yet until I am ready to build because I want it to go from the box to the computer. The ATX Aspire X-Navigator is huge. I could fit about 3 2 yr old children in the box.
1st package had this
AMD 64 3500+
XFX 7800GTX Factory clocked to the same speeds as the KO
DFI LP UT nF4 SLI-DR 939 socket board
DVD burner drive Lite-On OEM
160 GB Samsung SATA drive (the one that was reviewed here on the site)
2nd package had this
The Aspire X-navigator case with 500W PSU included along with lots of Blue Led fans (was reviewed he also, got the gold award).
This is what I am missing so far
3rd package
2x 1gb OCZ DDR 400 Dual Channel Platinum RAM
Samsung Floppy drive (never know when you might need one for drivers and such).
Edit: I have everything else I need to play games decently but my next purchase with include a CRT moniter from Newegg, Zalman VGA and CPU coolers all copper with Blue Led's. MX518 gaming mouse from best buy or newegg + a decent Keyboard.
There is only one problem so far and that is that the desk area I used for my old comp cannot fit the new case (it is that freakin huge). I'm about "6 '3 and this computer case comes up almost to the midpoint of my thigh. Considering that my old one only went up a little bit higher than my shin this is quite a deal larger. I will have to remove the keyboard tray in order to fit the comp.
I'll figure something out because I'll have to : ).

Yeah I was thinkin so also. But I'm still debating CRT of LCD.
I was wondering if anythign is lost (like screen quality) if you use a VGA adapter on a DVI only card. For about the same price I can get either a good LCD with DVI no ghosting that goes up to 1280x1024 or I can get a great CRT no DVI that can go up to at least 1600x1200 and and higher is needed.
I also have to think about desk space. Because I have to take out the Keyboard tray to fit my tower in the keyboard will be the same level as the moniter.
JW what you guys think. I understand CRT is better for gaming but if it really does look better on an LCD (no ghosting) with direct DVI connection, is there any need for a super high Resolution?

cool man . glad to see that you got some of your parts in already .
*makes weak attempt to place guilt trip* shame you couldn't buy any of the components from me .
Well, start taking pix of your new toys and start posting them . we all wanna see what you got, and what it looks like .
As far as monitor goes, at work we have a RealSync 17" and 19" monitor that do 550:1 contrast and 8ms response. The 17" model goes for $259 and the 19" model goes for $329. They both support VGA and DVI. If you don't like either of those two, we also get the ViewSonic VA920B 19" monitor that also does 550:1 contrast and has a 8ms response time .....that dude goes for $379.

Sweet man, I didn't want to pay the shipping and Tax to get the screen here so I'll help you out with ur commision. I think I'll get the 17
Edit: I don't really feel guilt, its a side affect of being born I guess.
Also, I need a decent keyboard for under 20. Lower than that would be good but what you guys carry?

If you have any questions about setup just ask SFO. Look at my specs to see why.

JK, I was goin to get the X2 4400 when it drops in price and when I will need it.
Hows it running? What frames u get for what games?
How long did it take you to set everything up and how many problems did you run into?
Thanks for the help, at least I know I had some good judgement
