Soooo... got in my first choice uni... buttttt...

Well... this morning... I slipped a grade to below the required grades for Bristol to study Chemistry... I got an abismal B in Maths, C in Chemistry and C in Physics (and D in Gen Studs - but that doesn't really count) - I have my reasons for the bad grades, but I won't go into that, I was predicted AAB.

So my school got on the phone to Bris and they were messing us around a little... so I thought that they were going to reject me... so I started looking at clearing places... found this awesome spot to study Physics at Southampton... phoned them up... they're interested in my... despite the bad grades.

With my thinking I realised that I actually liked Physics more than Chemistry... especially various aspects of Astrophysics... so I thought GREAT! I can get into the 3rd best Physics course in the country!

Then an hour or so ago I find out that Bristol have accepted me afterall... even tho I've been competing for my place with people who got AAAs, when I got BCC... someone at Bristol must like me... I got into the place with crap grades without having to use mitigating circumstances!!!

So now I have to choose between the 4th best Chem course in the country or the 3rd best Physics course in the country.

If I go to Soton I get an exchange year with Harvard Smithsonian Institute!!! If I go to Bristol I get Exchange year with Madison/Washington/Pen State/another one... so I just don't know what to do lol.

The Bristol course is confirmed... the Soton course is unofficial... but kind of confirmed lol.

Ah well... I have alot of thinking to do over the next few days!!!

And to add to it... I now feel a lil guilty lol... my friend who has worked so so hard these past two years... slightly slipped on his required ABB to get ABC and got rejected by Durham (but got into Sheffield at least) and I barely put any work in over the past two years... got much worse grades and am able to choose between two great unis.

Lots of thinking lol... well... I've got a date tonight so i'll be able to relax and take my mind off of it for a night (I hope!)

Anyone else get their results this morning?

wow I never went to highschool at all. I took one look at middleschool and said "Eff that" Then I took one look at highschool and said "Eff that!" And when I was 16 I took one look at college and said "YEAH BABY!" and just went to college 2 years early. And you know what else? The media lies. Its SO EASY for people to get into college early. Just as long as it aint a state university, any other place will take a chance with yah.

The 3 places that I applied to were all not too picky about my grades (they were ok anyway). Looking back on it now, my high school councellors took grades way too seriously

its Grade Point Average.

basicly each letter is assigned a numarical value (0-4, 0 is not doing any work at all, 4 is an A) a 3.0 would be some place around the lower-mid B range.

I had a 3.5 in high school with little effort. Applying the same effort to college nets me a 3.0. Damn.

Well... Just went down to Soton... I've decided I'm going there... seems great... my place is as official as unofficial can be until I get Bris to release me into clearing.

i have a 2.750 (current) and a 2.8 something (cummulative). i had a good first semester with straight b's and a hard second with math and economics and some computer classes.. damn timed typings. i had an A b and 2 c's. with my choice of classes for this next semester i should do quite well and get back in a good score... i am HOPING to get a 3.5 before the end of the year.. kinda wanna surprise my dad and graduate cum laude... crosses fingers...
