yeah I know the argument, and it seems plausible that I would be somewhere on the road where I cannot get internet connectivity. Some places I travel, like the remote deserts of the U.S. or remote deserts of other countries. I wondered if I could get a PCMIA card that would deliver that technology for me too.

I tried this one time. Quality sucks. Nowhere near the quality of their portable/car XM capable units.
PC wise... I'll stick with Shoutcast.

I have that site running every day. I tell you, I don't know anywhere else that has 3335 channels of free streaming music. 6 years, and still going.
XM.. eat your heart out.

He's talking about DAB, or Digital Audio Broadcast radios. It's the format that will be, err.. is replacing AM/FM. In about 10 years everything (at least these guys hope) will be switched over to DAB. 'Course, broadcasters need to start making consumers aware that the damn thing exists if they intend to do so.
As soon as Pioneer comes out with a home receiver that has DAB support I'm all over it.
