HOORAY for charity shops!
This might take some explaining.
My first PC'ing experience was with my brother's 33mhz 386.
The first game I fell in love with (and still am to this day) was Xwing!
Not long after, he bought Magic Carpet. I was hooked!
I love it. I have always loved it. I will always love it.
One day browsing through ebay, I stumble across original Magic Carpet in mint condition, so I buy it.
I'm all excited until I install it and try to run it, when it becomes apparant that my pc is way too powerfull for it. Game looks like a bad acid trip.
Anywho, I played around with CPU Killer and the like, but it was always a bit of an effort.
Then, last week, I'm looking round a charity shop for a computer desk when this guy drops off a computer. Assistant looks at it, plugs it in, then whacks a £20 sticker on it.
17 inch crt in perfect condition and me short a monitor, I take it.
So, that overly long story was to tell you how I now have Magic Carpet running perfectly on my 'brand new' celeron 667 etower.
And I'm very happy about this. Which is why I felt the need to write about it!

Ha ha.
After I read your post I turned to my fiancee and said- "do you remember the secret of monkey island??"
To which she replied- "no............................................... .................................................. ...................I never got to the end."
Well I thought it was funny.
Oh yeah. There's a couple copies on ebay UK.

i guess i didn't phrase that correctly... i really don't think there was a secret.. or maybe there was... I looked on ebay but i don't know the exchange rate for dollars to pounds. I guess i can just cross my fingers and wait for LucasArts to re-release it in like a 20th anniversary thing for Monkey Island
