Butchered songs?
Frankly, in case you haven't noticed, songs nowadays are all just becoming remakes of old songs, and most are crap. So, with that said, list songs that you believe to be classics but have been butchered by current artists (or old artists that have remade something)
Song that comes into mind is The Who - Behind Blue Eyes redone by Limp Bizkit. I just can't stand Limp Bizkit's version, and the annoying thing is little people think he actually wrote the song
So, butchered songs, anyone?

i agree. shows an amzing lack of talent. & the industry wonders why people arent buying as many cds. they have the same problem the movie industry does, scared to take a chance & do something original -want to stay with what has worked for them so far.
they can keep churning out the same crap & people will buy it for a while, but eventually when they realise that this years new hit is the same as last years or a remake of something 15 yrs ago they are going to stop buying. i think that is what we are seeing in both industries.
sorry i got a little of topic there.
& PLEASE leave pink floyd alone. lou are also right about behind blue eyes, they trashed it.

Dirty Laundry - Lisa Mari Presly
Boys of Summer - Tha Ataris
Riders on the storm - snoop dogg (ok, its decent. not terrible, but not great)
im sure theres a ton more but thats all i can think of off the top of my head.

The industries just do what's easiest, blame something/someone. And in this case, it's piracy. So they go after piraters, thinking that will increase sales.. but people just don't want to spend money on something that is a poor remake..
Never actually heard it sung, but I've heard Fred Durst killed Thank You by Zeppelin at some award show.

that clown did 'riders'? none of the doors classics should be redone, especially that one. i dont have to hear it to know he trashed it. & i know that is probably not cool ot say, but i have heard enough of of him to get a fairly good idea. bottomline is, imo, that is one of those songs that stands alone & should be left that way.

Ha, yeah, new music doesn't really have anything knew about it.
Think out the time periods these bands came out and the type of music they created...
The Who
Boston
Ten Years After
Deep Purple
Cream
Creedence: Clearwater Revival
The Doors
Pink Floyd
pretty much all of those, and countless others created music that was way ahead of their time by decades. Music went down hill with the 80's. 90's got back to the roots and started the depressing but good music era. then after that everything just went to hell. Anything catagorized as "Rock" now is pretty much a band copying old riffs and old music calling it their own, saying how their song is soo much different. Rap and R&B has no purpose in the world at all except the degrading of women. You cannot have any true music without instruments and more than one person.
Classical has always been the best music for me, because think about the composers who made this stuff, and its so powerful, I love that no matter what song it is any classical music (with no words I may add) can be related to your life, its like a story that never ages, never dies, and true to every human being. Lets hear rap or new rock say that.
Only really new bands I like are Tool and AdioSlave. They are at least original though Tool ( A Perfect Circle now) is starting to become a moronic political band they still write decent songs.
Green Day will always suck. They don't sell talent any more and not even skill (rock = skill + Talent, Metal = More skill than talent, Rap = Retards Attempting Poetry, and New Rock = no talent and very little [if any] skill).
People don't understand the heart and soul of music any more, they just want what sounds good.
If u agree with what I have said please post

i would not lump r&B in with rap. 2 completely different styles of music. obviously you have it confused with something else. or made a typo.

hahaha, no, I am not counting them as the same thing, it may be soulful but unless there is some type of jazz guitarist and/or drummer playing along as a supportive role, than I don't think it should really qualify as good music.

I agree, SFOSOK. Rap really has nothing to it nowadays..I've heard when rap first came out it was great, but now..just blah
Though I happen to like a few bands from the 80's..Van Halen, GNR, etc..

you rally have not listened to much r&b have you? r&b & jazz are cross-derivative, they have roots in each other.
of course you have your opinion about wha tis good music & what is not, just try to have more experience with a style of music before you form an opinion like that. or not.

Well at least I can say your answer is fair enough as an opinion. But Rock came from more jazz than R&B did, R&B does have its very talented singers, but I think they would be more qualified as music with instruments or more than just one person. As I said b4

There's not much rap/r&b I like anymore. Some choice 1 hit wonders (ciara's one two step, tori alamaze's don't ya) are pretty good. Eminem is decent when he isn't destroying classic rock or trashing moby. Black eyed peas are just all around good (first album is better than the second).
There IS quality in those genres, but if you only dabble like I do you have to look for it. You're not going to be impressed by the average.
edit: Making blanket statements about the quality of any genre in general makes you look like an idiot.
I think the dead presidents redid 'video killed the radio star', it sucked.
