Heard about this on the way into work this morning on National Public Radio here in the US - they are following it carefully and reported only 2 confirmed deaths as of 8:00 am. 7 blasts total.
This is terrible news...
Tony Blair believes not related to Olympic announcement (congrats UK!) - too highly coordinated to pull off in less than 24 hours...
My thoughts and prayers are with the people of London this morning - may the Lord sustain you and cover you...

I believe this time the London PD will find the culprits very quickly, but it will be muslim fundamentalists implicated, rather than known terrorists. There are several militant groups living in England, and I am sure they focus will be on them.

it seems to have quitened down here- it is so strange going outside, there are people walking round quite normally, but there is a strange silence that is punctuated by howling sirens.
as quickly as it was abnormal, the city as become strangely "normal" again - work has been continuing, people are oput shopping in Tescos etc.
Is bizarre
One thing or sure though it has caused chaos - looks like I, and many other ppl, are going ot have a long walk home tonight

My boss's daughter landed yesterday in London for her summer exchange program...first time away from home, etc. Lets just say mommy is a bit anxious right now.... fortunately I've been to London and her daughter is in a fairly low traffic neighbhoor (South Kensington) so I've alleviated her concerns for the moment.
My guess is its muslim fundamentalists. Fortunately London as a city is much more prepared for terrorism than many others due to their IRA experiences in the 1970s/80s... all garbage cans are sealed, cameras everwhere, etc. I have a great degree of confidence that these skum will be found quickly.
I'm guessing they're hitting London since its a world city and much more multicultural. I suspect strangers in most parts of Scotland would be quickly identifiable and stand out like a sore thumb. Certainly Scotland is not as 'sexy' a target.

I just fail to see the logic. Why attack? It ain't doing anything very helpful and terrorism is just gonna get a worse beating.
Seriously, it's gonna take G8 off from pollution and the likes to terrorism. Again. Am I the only one that feels somebody high up is pulling lotsa strings? This seems odd. Not very intelligent to say the least. No game with the dates, no dangersouly disatrous event. Just a small scare which surely will have an effect on the G8, for the worse. I really got the feeling something really odd is going on. Queer if you prefer

again, I think that we will see that this was planned for quite some time, and the information gathered from intelligence and forensics will implicate groups of the same type of attack that we saw in Spain, where of course we will get the people that put the bombs on the trains, but we will not find the mastermind.

i heard this at school this morning, so when i got home at lunchtime i turned on the tv to see watch the news and couldnt believe it.
apparently not many people died, but still this is shocking. my dad usually works in london but today he had to go somewhere else, so im relieved.
i am really sorry for the people who lost their lives or got injured, and hope nothing else happens.

The terrorists probably know they can't win through terrorism. Not directly anyways.
But when they're recruiting weak-minded muslim citizens in western countries, these events are like marketing. "Look what we can do with our limited resources!" Everyone knows about 9/11, its more important as a symbol than as an attack against infrastructure or industry though.
Personally I think the best counter to this is what France has been doing ... aggressive secularisation of all government and public life, and aggressive education in liberalism and political ideaology. Conservative, liberal, socialist, libertarian...doesn't matter what you pick as a personal philosophy, so long as its a RATIONAL choice.
Personally I'm looking forward to the "Opening a can of SAS whoop-ass" option about the be exercised...

I agree, that is the main reason so many countries have so many issues like US, our seperation of church and state is bullshit I sometimes feel like our country is being run by the Southern Baptist Conventition. The countries which usually have the most issues with this crap are the ones which cant seperate religious idelogy from actually running the goverment, and when it comes to Middle East I am so sick of hearing about it all these people all they want to do is kill each other and they scream for our help but as soon as we help them they want to declare jihad on us and all of sudden we become infidels, these people are dead set on the path for self desctrution and you know what lets help them finish the job quicker so we can get rid of the problem lets drop a nuke on the middle east that is what they really want in their hearts any way to join Allah on the chariot of fire in all this glory so they can hook up with 50 virgins.

What a really stupid statement man, and you wonder why you arent a gold member. Im really pissed off with a comment like this , we have loads of people living in that area on these forums, ive family near there myself.
Ive lived in Ireland most of my life and been surrounded by bombings, deaths - body parts laying in streets, you name it, and you never "get used to it". In future if you have nothing worthwhile saying then log out.

Good to know, unfortunately I couldn't find "Inside DriverHeaven" on google maps so I assumed it was London... You mentioned riding around Ireland on your bikes, but it thought that was more like a roadtrip.
No chunnel between Ireland and England, but there is one between France and England. Good thing Napoleon is long since dead!

Thanks for the concern, its appreciated man. I was watching the news on sky, its bloody awful. always the innocent who die or get hurt. Saw this picture of a mother and her child badly injured and man it just gets to me. People need to realise that for every "statistic", thats a real living person - with a family, someones mother, father, son, daughter. Lives are destroyed because of this, people who werent even "involved" directly. Ive witnessed it over in Ireland across the 70's and 80's, I know a part of the pain.
My thoughts really are with those people in London. Its such a wonderful city and the people there are great.
A sad day
