I wonder if that would change if everyone that went there voted on it. :-/ Always the people with bad experiences get a big grudge against the store and want to tell everyone.

how to shop at best buy:
- wait for the price you want, go in, buy the item and nothing else
- mail in rebates usually are only successfully returned 50% of the time, and you have to sacrifice your original receipt (hence voiding return/warranties usually)... as a rule I consider them 'found money' at best
- (almost) never buy extended warranty
- if its not EXACTLY what you wanted, e.g. it has a slightly different serial number or branding, then its probably made for box-store sales only, and quality is inferior.
- if you're buying computer components, you can almost always find it cheaper as an OEM product vs retail boxed sales

Best Buy is a necessary evil, but be very wary. Get the $10 DVD but ignore everything else...those are loss-leaders to get you in the store.

That's the only problem I've personally ever had with them, being ripped off with rebates and such because of a stupid little reason like having a torn version of the rebate (they wouldn't take it taped), the receipt thing, etc. Their music is sold at a decent price however.

They sent them in, they check on it they say they recived it, then again they mailed
them a check, they waited they checked again still nothing other then they mailed it.

Now that its obvious they did not recive the check. They say they issued
a check and it hasn't been cashed but its been too long and they are
refusing to reissues the check (assumeing they ever actuallly did )

(they subcontact alot of this stuff and the money they don't pay out they get to keep!)

Should be some legal remidy to this?...

The reason newegg has such a high resellrating is not just because they almost always give perfect condition things, but they fix their mistakes here look at this.

A horror story from someone least expected.
I used to like newegg.com - their prices, their service, their speed of tunraround. I was so enamored with them I think I asked them if I could invest in the company.

My purchase volumes were not particularly high, but surely over a thousand dollars per year during the past four years. So I was a happy camper - considering that I've been buying on the internet for about 10 years, and usually buying on price, I sometimes would still buy from them even if it was $5 more than someone else's quote.

Until today, that is. Here is the story:
1. On May 20 I bought a set of multimedia speakers - a heavy and pricey ($200.00 for computer speakers is expensive) item.
2. The item arrived about a week later - in the shiny, but flimsy original box provided by the manufacturer. I guess they just slapped a FedEx lable on it and threw it on the conveyor belt. Obviously, the box broke up during shipping. Someone, I guess FedEx guys, tried to patch it with the tape, but it broke up again.
Anyway, to cutr the long story short, the subwoofer arrived scratched and dented as the styrofoam protection got busted, and the manual apparently fell out somewhere.
3. I contacted newegg and asked them how could they ship something just liek that - I mean you just know it would get damaged. People just don't do that, period - you've got to put it in another cardboard box - that's just standard practice. "No," they told me.. "our standard practice is to ship it just like that.." As if it was the first item I ever bought from them.
4. It took me over a motnth, a dozen E-mails, and as many phone calls, to get a refund for this thing - I finally got it today June 27. But here is the kicker! When I looked at the amount I realized that they only refunded me for the item's price - *NOT* the shipping. That is, instead of an apology, they made me pay for their screw-up. Nice going!

Dear SMSMSMSM,

Thank you for taking the time to post your informative review. We greatly apologize for any inconvenience caused, and certainly understand your frustration and disappointment. We understand that by not repackaging the larger contained items we are taking a risk that it will be received damaged. We acknowledge this issue and certainly have been working on ways to provide a repackaging service for the larger risky items. We will continue to strive to improve, so that we can provide each and every customer with a completely satisfying experience.

We definitely feel that it will be appropriate to reimburse you for the return shipping, along with your original shipping costs. We have attempted to contact you to confirm this, but to no avail. Please contact Jason at 800-390-1119 ext 2050, so that we may discuss and resolve this issue once and for all.

Thank You,
Newegg Customer Support

I wish there was something you could do, it'd be like loaning some money out to a friend, and when you ask for it back he says "Oh, I already gave you that money!"

It's quite rediculous if you ask me.

I've heard the same stuff about futureshop, but I've never had those problems. In my experience, the customer service people don't know too much but if you calmly explain your case (to management if needed), they will do what you want. I was able to return an open copy of winme to them, so if that's possible, anything is

A fellow developer for battalion preordered me the dvd edition of bf2 two weeks before the launch as a late birthday present. He preordered it from bestbuy.com for whatever reason.

Launch day he gets an email saying they are out of the dvd edition and would have to wait a week for it to ship (notice they let him preorder it just fine).

It is now TWO WEEKS LATER and I haven't received it yet. The last shipping status said it arrived at the jersey city dispatch facility June 28th. That's 10 days ago and nothing.

He called today and they said that the item hasn't been received in 14 days and they can't do anything until it hasn't been received in 15 days. He was absolutely livid. He's not going to pay the credit card charge.

SO FUCK YOU BESTBUY
