I saw it, but there were only a few things I really liked about it.
1 is: Jessica Alba is hot. (Trailers and TV spots show this, but the film refreshes the idea.)
2) Even though Benicio Del Toro accepts roles that make him appear that he is/could be a hotshot, untouchable kind of person, his role does not express that.
3) Elijuah Wood's character was interesting in appearance but overall was a let down. (I'm not a fan of the comics and have never read them.) His presence gave the film some life though.
4) This film has a film noir style that I like but I will not see this again.

I can't believe it's not coming up until July here in Sweden. Perhaps MPAA wants to test our patience.

very different approach, i liked the violence. the begining made it feel like an old sega genesis game, the rest felt like max payne. seriously felt like a video game. britney murphy had some pretty crappy acting, but i hope it was part of the movie. all in all, pretty good movie but i wish each story was more connected.
and god, my willy was dancing along with jessica alba, omfg.

i liked it. agree about it being similar to some video games.
loved the life/death choices. they were never given a choice of living or dying, just how hard they wanted their death to be.
really like how it was not just 'black & white' but truely black & white. everything is very defined. especially the splashes of color.
good movie. then add jessica & the other girls...

I'll eventually see it, now I just hope they pull some of the ads on tv because I'm sick of seeing the comm's for it.

what is this i hear about two versions of the film, one "digitally enhanced" and the other "35mm". Is this true everywhere? In Cleveland it is (a buddy of mine called and asked which to see). Anyway, other than the grittyness (I assume), what are the differences between the two?

not sure but i would have to assume that 35mm is for average theater & digital is for theaters that are fully digital(these are pretty rare).

I have all three graphic novels (Sin City, That Yellow Bastard, and The Big Fat Kill) and I will admit that the casting and direction was almost 100% exact. There were a few minor scenes dropped from Sin City (which I just reread) but so minor I didn't even remember them.
In the end i think the graphic novels work a bit better, as the pacing seems slower. One problem I had with the movie was that the action/activity was non-stop...some of the horrific scenes ('eureka'! moments) didn't have the impact I thought they should.
Nevertheless, a solid, fantastic film. Inspired casting, Mickey Rourke's best career performance. I'll be getting on DVD.

Body count is quite high, and there are quite a few grotesque scenes. The final sequence with Ray Liotta in "Hannibal" is roughly on par with *several* sequences in the movie. I'd say definitely a 'guy' movie, although I know quite a few chicks who would dig it. All depends upon their sensibility.

lol...ok. Sounds like one to see alone.
She doesn't mind the gore or anything, but "super action/violent" movies aren't her thing

not a super action movie, there are a lot of scenes where it's pure talking...but when there is action it's really intense.

I am still bitter that you guys get to see it and we have to wait so bloody long in the UK
that is why the UK is one of the highest downloaders of films and tv shows because we see you guys getting them and get impatient after a 2 month wait :/
