why didn't you get it sooner? You're 18 already, you should have your license by now! Well, i guess it doesn't matter so long as you're on your way to driving .

I've had my license for a few months, but after paying around $700 for drivers' ed and the license, I can't be arsed to pay for insurance... there always seems to be other stuff to buy that I can have more fun with.
And since I discovered how fun skiiing is this winter, I'm probably going to purchase a set of skis...

SLAMS forward? What does that mean? And why is it a problem?
What kind of car is it? Model?

like i tap the accelerator and the car shoots forward really fast.
And its a problem because I'm not good with the car yet. I only go about 30mph right now because any faster is too fast for me(I'm seriously sucking)
The car is a Toyota Camry and its like a '97 model...now if you look that up I'm pretty sure its a SOHC with shit comming out the exaust..
however the previous owners stuck in a DOHC engine as well as several parts from a Celica GT-S. I'm not real good with mechanics so I dont know what they did to modify it to work with the drive train...but its still an FF layout so the back can fishtail pretty bad if you go too fast on the curves.
I guess it use to have turbo but the previous owners took it out because it made the car too unstable to drive properly.

Wow man, crazy-
is it a standard or auto? Are you working the clutch right if so? Maybe that's why it's jerky.
My second car was a Dodge Charger Shelby Turbo 2.2L- it was hard to drive smooth- but it went like stink.

overdrive drops the gearing to apply more torque
avoid it like the plague unless yer towing something
"Horespower hurls you to the wall....torque slams you through it"

Actually in an automatic transmission, overdrive is like a "high gear" that the transmission drops into when less torque is needed when you already get up to speed. Like on the highway going 75MPH- it won't stay in 4th gear (or 3rd), it will drop into "overdrive"....
When you punch it, it will instantly pop out of overdrive for more torque- maybe that's what you meant.
