AOL horror stories
I had installed aol on my system so a visiting friend could use her account.
When she left I uninstalled aol re-booted and it fragged my system, I couldn't even access anything to back-up current data total loss had to completly low-level formatt and re-install.

tell us more about this friend? when did she leave? would you go to that much trouble for 'a' friend? I kno I wouldn't AOL is never coming near my system, and infact i had a friend over last week, she's on AOL and if she even asked to install AOL i would have drove her home.

AOL...don't even get me started. I don't know how it could completely render a computer unbootable but I know that it spreads through your system like a virus. Even if u uninstall it successfully, it leaves behind its customizations of IE, Outlook Express and other things. It puts links to its website everywhere and messes up ur connection to the internet. If I was going to do someone a favor like that, I would make a restore point before installing it. That way, whatever it does to your system, you can always go back.
