are trojans/viruses/etc masked as illegal files really a crime though?
I'm nto saying i'm a good friend of the Raped In the Ass Agency or anything, but is it really a crime to label a virus as an illegal song file and spread it?
Drug dealers mix cocaine with rat poison/flour/baking soda/etc and nobody gets mad about that

Point being the said activites are verry illegal... regardless of where thier doing it
not only that against all ISP's terms of service so thier ISP should be sueing them and thier subcontactors that do most the work for damages, illegal use etc...
So i mean If i go to a bad part of town and start killing people it would still be verry illegal nothing justifies thier breaking the law just becouse it's a bad place of where legal and illegal tranfers are takeing place. Especally when thier peacheing observance of the law and right they them self enfringe on daily... and useing law enforcement as thier little porch monkies. What thier doing is far worse then what the file sharers are doing... and many times more illegal / severe

I've never been one for downloading for two reasons.
1. Video Quality
2. Lack of Surround Sound

Guys...let's do our best to keep this out of the FWZ, shall we?
and neon, it doesn't matter if P2P can be used for legit purposes...if they mask the trojans as files that CAN NOT EVER BE LEGAL, such as ripped mp3s, etc,, there's no crime. And as per breaching ISP agreements, you do the same when you download music.

the riaa shutting down places makes no sense, actually these places dont account for the big sources of filesharing.
it's IRC and private FTPS and your friends at school/work. in addition, with burners so cheap and high-bandwidth internet its a joke. they can never stop it and stopping a few has had no significant change CD sales nor will they ever.

I've totally given up on music anyway, I haven't bought a cd in quite a while I don't even remember what the last one I bought was, I think the last that was bought for me was Christmas 2003. There is just no decent music out there that I would even bother downloading for free. That is there biggest problem shitty music. I just listen to talk radio and thats it.
but in retrospect that whole blurb has absolutely nothing to do with the original point of this thread.
