Buying my first home!
Well, to day I will find out if I will be purchasing a nice home for my family. I should hear back later today and see if the seller accepted my offer. What an exciting thing it is to buy a home, even though I feel a bit old . Everything has gone smoothly so far, it helps that I work at a bank.
Anyone else have stories of their home buying experience?

Hey man, I'm still way too young to even think of having my own home, let alone family, but I'd like to wish you all the best of luck during the important transaction.
Something like that doesen't just happen every other day!

Oh! It's beautiful!!! Esp. the fact that it looks set on an inclinded plane of sorts! I take it that it's set on a hilly area???
If so, the scenery must be real beautiful too!

The view is nice, there is a city park across the street, so the view is only of a hill and thick tree cover, sort of gives you the feeling of being in the woods. If we get it, I'll post some pics.

Congrats, I'm waiting on mine to be finished construction (they haven't started yet), we were supposed to be in there in march but our closing was pushed back to July, oh well, more time to scrimp and save.

we just moved to a new house in september, my bro purchased it. we finally got out of the hood after 21 yrs in a small apartment. it was pretty ghetto. now we have a 1750 sqft semi-detattched house brand spanking new. its out in the suburbs of toronto (about 20 mins outside of downtown) which sucks. otherwise we did it up in the kitchen with stainlesss steel and potlights all around the first floor. feels physically better out of the ghetto and into a new house
so good to hear you bought the new house, if your moving from a new apartment or much smaller house be ready for a lot of additional purchases!

Thats what I was saying only 4 years ago. Now I'm saying, "Shit, I'm not even 23 and I have 2 kids, a wife (soon), now a mortgage". Talk about becoming and old man quickly .
It's kind of funny, in two months I go from being a college student to having a full time job, a mortgage, and a wife (Jan. 31).

Damn, houses are so cheap in the US
Here's what you can get for around $260,000 near where I live,
http://www.sherryfitz.ie/sf2003.exe?...7&pagemode=res
I'm never going to be able to afford a house.
Either way good luck with the new house man.

Yeah, Europe is cheap, it's not so much the house, it's the land. The US has more to go around, beleive me it goes deeper than that, the banking and mortgage system in the US in unique,so is the use (an acceptance) of debt and equity.
The price of the house is not necessarily representative of the rest of the US. The area I live in just has cheap real estate, compared to other places. Works to my advantage though. I hate to keep bragging, but man am I excited.

I've been renting for quite a few years, have actually felt fortunate that I could rent a fairly large house in the country for not so many $$$. Land in the state of VA is way over priced, especially some that we have looked at in the sticks. Hopefully all will work out and I will be able to join the homeowners club in about 2 years. Good luck on your purchase.
